Except for the fact that Colorado has been using it for years with no problems. Next.

Did you just "thank you, next" me?

    How dare you.

I somewhat disagree with the second reason because news (whatever slant) follows the demands of the people, so it's not necessarily true that they are inciting divisiveness, racism, panic and paranoia. It is they are catering to the demands of the people that pay their bills.

A good example of this is when "late night" television didn't really exist. Our parents and grandparents watched "the news" which consisted of the three major networks and maybe a local channel or two. That was around the time that more programs were aired to change the "landscape" of television and the people that wanted "those" people to go away played all kinds of dirty tricks. For instance, the colored columns would show up with a message about the station having "technical difficulties" when, in fact, the purpose was to take advertisers' money but not deliver their product by claiming something outside their immediate control was the reason those ads never made it on air. This mostly happened with any type of minority program or ad. Not much has changed on that front and you will find countless threads all over the internet about keeping "non white" people in their place. It's the same form of hatred as sexism, homophobia, transphobia and basically any subgroup within our society that doesn't fit into the neat little box of white, heterosexual and Christian (KJV).

Therefore, when we look at the question of what is "killing democracy" we are, in essence, asking "What are we allowing or overlooking that this kind of mind game can even be effective?" Are we actively seeking to truly be inclusive and acknowledge the contributions of every one in our society regardless of who they are or what they look like or who they love in their personal lives? Are we doing enough to truly balance the tide that everyone, in reality, is considered to be equal and treated accordingly. Are we able to step outside our comfort zone and bridge gaps with others in our community? What are we willfully and proactively willing to do to stand behind our convictions? Until we can be quiet and sit with our thoughts on these questions, we can't expect other people to jump aboard. It doesn't work like that.

Until we, all of us, can start with the premise that some people are treated differently in our society solely based on their skin color, religion, creed, sexuality, we can't solve the problem and the only people that don't want to solve the problem are the ones that benefit from this imbalance.

So, no, I don't blame the media at all. That's Business 101. Give people what they want and they pay handsomely for it. Don't give them what they want and they won't. We all saw these just a few days ago when former president Trump mentioned getting a vaccine booster shot. It was reported that some people "boo'd" him. The reason is that simple formula. It's not what they want. He has built a whole movement around the idea that he is being unfairly targeted. People are sending him millions of dollars per month. People are at home pacing, angry, ticked off, unsure and fed up thinking he's been treated in some way that is different than any other POTUS or elected official has been treated. He hasn't but because he is such a good liar and does his circus act for them, they will follow him straight over a cliff (or up the side of walls at the Capitol or threaten election officials in their homes and places or business).

And, as painful as it to hear...this is the environment we created. Only time will tell if this means the downfall of our very foundation but, right now, today, the best thing anybody can do for themselves is to walk away from anything and everything that keeps this hostility going on all sides.

Healing has never happened that way.
Growth has never happened that way.
Peace has never happened that way.

There's no doubt that Trump is charismatic. He is. I absolutely can't stand him enough that I would only need a thimble-full of why he might be somewhat tolerable. Yet, I'm able to step outside by own biase inciting divisiveness, racism, panic and paranoia.s and acknowledge that he is very engaging. He gets his crowds energized and motivated and loving him because he has perfected his con. But, I am not confused by his agenda. I know that he wouldn't spit on me (or most of us) if were on fire. That's not who he is. And, until we, look within ourselves and set a hard boundary that he is also not the person to effectively lead this country in anything. It doesn't make him a bad person. Well, he is kind of shady. It doesn't mean we aren't patriotic enough. It doesn't mean that we are defective. It simply means that we allowed ourselves to take a step back to recognize that we need a different type of leader. Sadly, until enough of us reach that conclusion, we're going to continue getting these circus acts and we can't blame the media for that. That is OUR doing and we are the only ones that can fix it.

    Did it again.

    Motherf----r.

But, on a serious note, three points.

One, just because a system of voting works in one state it does not mean that the results translate nationwide.

Two, absentee voting does lead to more voter fraud. (1)

Three, there is voter fraud in Colorado. (2)

So, I guess I get to say, "Thank you, next."

He is the excessively rich person who supports and finances many of the top radical leftist/Democrat action groups; he is the epitome of big money influencing politics.

This has nothing to do with democracy. It is about election security. If 60% of republicans believe it, it may not be baseless.

This has nothing to do with democracy. It is about politics.

Strike 3. This has nothing to do with democracy. It is about power, control and politics. People are still elected to office. The offices aren't taken by force. If corrupt politicians refused to take corporate money, there wouldn't be any bribery. The problem is with the politicians.

Look up "appeal to authority." It is one of the common logical errors in debate. There is no reason to think a university professor understands democracy better than you or I, unless that professor is a professor of law. It appears to me that Reich doesn't even understand the term. He just warns of a loss of democracy by touting things he doesn't like politically that are unrelated to democracy. He should be embarrassed.

The politicians/leaders and people/corps trading on The Big Lie are the biggest enemies.

Didn't like my answer, oh well? Hey Now, isn't all politics partisan? Governing shouldn't be however.
"The politicians/leaders and people/corps trading on The Big Lie are the biggest enemies of a representative republic."

That's nonsense of course. You haven't (and can't) provide a reasonable explanation of how the "big lie" affects democracy. It is about election security, not democracy. "The big lie," of course is an opinion, not a fact, on both sides of the aisle. It has never been investigated. Democracy won't die because of opinions.

So, we have established at least three things.
    1. You accuse me of being a partisan while exhibiting exactly that. There is a term for this.
    2. You actually believe The Big Lie. That nonsense is on you, seriously.
    3. You are unable to see your own posts as what they are, mere opinions.

Non partisan. I don't even vote. I disapprove of the very existence of political parties.

I don't know what to believe. It has never been investigated. The big lie has never been proven to be a lie or the truth. Hence all the people who believe it.

Everything I post on this forum is opinion. Your posts are opinion as well. This is an opinion forum. Where did that comment originate?

The above is an exact chronology of our posting interaction. If you can't acknowledge the bias of your first post responding to my post which includes a direct accusation, you are choosing not to. The rest is just frivolous fluff.
