Going local so the FBI has a hard time tracking them.

"In the aftermath of the 6 January Capitol attack, US law enforcement has dealt serious blows to rightwing groups like the Proud Boys and Oath Keepers. Big tech firms have also largely curtailed their ability to spread their message, with widespread de-platforming of members on popular social networks.

But extremism experts say the far right in America is now undergoing something of an atomization and localization: moving away from central organizations that might be subject to more federal law enforcement surveillance, and towards decentralized movements in regional venues where it can actually seek" positions of office and take power."

The good news is that that's also an important step for beating them back. Decentralize them and make it harder for them to radicalize the population as a whole. Cut off their networks, etc. But at the same time, local politics are harder to predict. We'll have to keep an eye on this going forward.

Decentralization does not mean lack of common purpose. Neo-fascist groups still have a common idea.

True but the goal isn't always to get rid of the groups but to force them underground and swat them down when they come back up. Like whac a mole. They can have their little groups all they want, but they can't organize political support because of how criminalized they are. That's the goal.

Do you even know what a fascist idea is? In fact the response to that relative handful of people your talking about is more fascist than anything they've done.

Agree. My point was that decentralization still makes them very dangerous.

Oh yeah no they're still very dangerous. That was the whole "ditch the punk look and put on suits" plan from the late 1980's. Infiltrate positions of power, become cops etc. That's what we have to be on the look out for and that is so much harder to pull off.

Right. Why the Pentagon has publicly declared it will no longer tolerate extremist groups within the military.

Which they should have done years ago. It was a mess how bad the military was becoming radicalized.

The one and only purpose is to overturn elections which means a dictator or group of oligarchs rises to power where they become unmovable. Extremists on the right have no idea how life under a dictator is. Most dictatorships, unless they manage to implement full control, don't last long. People soon realize their mistake and want to go back to democracy. But, while they last, they are very bloody and costly. Any right those right-wingers thought they had to things like guns or private property, or to making their own decisions are the first to go in ANY dictatorship (left or right wing). And then they become fierce advocates of democracy. But, by then, they will never recover most of what they lost.

Like Egypt. They elected a president and decided to go along with a military coup.

Yeah. Egypt hasn't quite understood how democracy works. They have lived under different types of dictatorships for millennia. But we have seen democracy for almost 250 years. So a right-wing dictatorship, though it would be short-lived, would be very painful for us.

Yeah. Such a big threat that celebrities have to stage fake white supremacist attacks.

you mean hate crimes like the Christmas parade murderer? How does that equate to white supremacy?
Also, do you have a better source than Chinese news network?

    1. I cited ABC too.
    2. I haven't heard anything about a motive... which establishes if it was a hate crime or not. So your what aboutism falls flat.

Ain't this the truth. Trump united and emboldened these groups. Steve Bannon and his donor backers have educated and organized them much better with a national purpose. They are not going away, they will now hide amongst local leos (as before) that identify but don't advertise. Mass migration has being used to fuel this fire and exploited by Putin and all authoritarian governments.
