Ratings from a nonpartisan election handicapper indicate that Republicans have a distinct advantage when it comes to winning control of the House in next year's midterm elections.

The Cook Political Report's ratings Thursday show that Democrats are defending eight "toss-up" districts, with five of those districts either leaning or likely Republican, across seven states.

Arizona's 6th District (open seat), New Jersey’s 7th (Rep. Tom Malinowski), and Texas’s 15th (open) are Democrat and "lean Republican," The Cook Report said.

Two more toss-up Democrat seats — Arizona's 2nd District (Rep. Tom O'Halleran) and Michigan's 10th District (open) — are in the "likely Republican" column.

Republicans, meanwhile, are defending six toss-up seats in four states, though only Illinois' 13th (open) currently leans Democrat, according to the latest Cook ratings.

The GOP needs a net gain of just five seats to take back control of the House…..

    T
his is great news for America! The party in the White House almost always loses house seats in a mid term election. Census reapportionment favors the GOP as well. So too does the numbers on each side retiring.

Zero people are surprised by this.
Slight majority in the house and senate for the Republicans — probably for the next 4 years along with a president Biden for the next 7 years if historical trends keep. We will see if Democrats riot at the Capitol screaming stop the steal like the cult did.

"Newsmax" is just picking this up now?

Been seen even before 2020 that the House would return back to the Republicans in 2022, history alone proves such

We can certainly hope that America gains its senses recognizing that the Democrats are lost and worthless!

Given current polling, I suspect Republicans are going to get a pretty significant majority in the House. And Biden's approval ratings are in the *******. I'm confident he will not be president by February 2025, if he even makes it that long. Republicans ought to impeach him in 2023 for botching Afghanistan so badly. And again in 2024 for bungling the COVID response.

I’m hoping and will be pushing for the yuge group of incoming R’s to file impeachment.
I’m guessing that everyone here both the dims and the R’s and the commies saw this coming by like April.
The buffoonery, the incompetence, the division of the country by this administration was rampant by Spring.

With the current House democrat majority so tiny after GOP gains in 2020, the change in house majority this time is virtually certain. Then the conversation pivots to bi partisan compromise or gridlock?

IF it was "Gridlock" b/c of Joe Manchin--Obviously, it will be gridlock after the GOP takes the House (and maybe The Senate).

I thought most trumpsters thought it was impossible to win elections because Democrats were so adept at cheating without leaving any evidence whatsoever?

Democrat advantage lies in their control of big city machine politics. That doesn't apply to House elections. In that scenario, they can only influence their own congressional districts.

Of course. There’s always an excuse. When Republicans lose, it’s always (and only) down to Democrats cheating. When Republicans win, they do it on merit.

Well since I didn't say that, I assume you had to make up a point from your own imagination to counter me, so I feel honored.

The best gauge is the number of Democrats jumping off the ship instead of facing re-election.

Ok, thanks for clarifying. I can see you’re not one of the many trumpsters who believe the lie that the election was stolen from him. You accept that the elections are free and fair. Good for you.

The problem with your analysis is that it’s static. If Democrats control certain areas, there shouldn’t be any change from one election to another.

Not true, since they don't control elections outside of urban areas. Let's take a Senate race. That's one where they have influence, but can't control the entire thing (I'm assuming some normality to election rules, not statewide mail in ballots for example). They can flood their inner city zones with ballots of dead people and people who don't usually vote, but they can't effect the suburban and rural counties, so much of the election depends on election interest and turn out in the majority of the state.

So you do believe the Big Lie.
You believe Democrats cheat on a massive scale even though there’s no evidence to support that theory. The corollary is that you must also believe that Republicans are too stupid to find a single shred of evidence of such massive cheating.

I do in fact believe that Republicans are too stupid to find evidence of cheating. They're not called the stupid party for nothing.

What would you like to see Biden doing on the COVID front that isn’t being done?
