they are looking at the needs of American children

just like businesses when they get tax cuts and stuff

I could say why does Amazon pay zero in taxes, maybe loopholes should be based on amount of taxes paid, a mandatory min percent or something

I don't trust children. They are plotting to take our jobs. They don't even hide it. And they are lazy and leech off of society. They don't work. They contribute nothing. Send them back where they came from. ;)

I have heard this claimed many times. Is it true? Big US companies like Amazon pay no taxes? And Republicans don't get upset over such extreme welfare?

More like I’m pointing out the underlying reason for both is the same.

Why does it matter if they get it now or when they file their taxes?
My wife and I both work and pay lots of taxes and we got this. I think anyone with kids did.

    crazy isn't it

"Amazon will pay $0 in federal taxes this year — and it’s partially thanks to Trump"

    https://www.cnbc.com/2019/02/15/amazon-will-pay-0-in-federal-taxes-this-year.html

"Amazon is one of the world’s most valuable companies, valued at nearly $800 billion, and the e-commerce giant pulled in $232.9 billion in global revenue in 2018.

And yet, Amazon’s federal tax bill this year: $0. For the second year in a row."

I have a good job. Why do you care if I get it monthly or annually? It’s already law.

If you want all child tax credits to go away I won’t argue with you. Keeping the current program is less economical than both scenarios

You can tell none of the people complaining have small kids because this went to everyone with them.

I have three small kids, and I hate what the ARP did on this front. For that matter, I also detested the "stimulus payments" from CARES, in spite of receiving them too.

Why? So we give them more incentives to move jobs over our borders? So that they can’t invest into new and innovative products?

I have a better idea. I think everyone should live within their means. Don’t ask for free handouts. Don’t ask for free college or free daycare.

The wealthy is on the side of the left. What are you talking about? Celebrities, famous athletes, filthy reach Democrat politicians, filthy rich liberal CEOs like Bill Gates, the Amazon guy, etc…

First of all you dont qualify unless you have payed taxes.
Its a credit because thats what it is by its legal definition.

I thought republicans of all people would appreciate their money back...Unless they dont qualify then no one should get their money back?

What should the government do with it? Use it on something else?

As far as im concerned, its my money back. You guys are arguing for higher taxes in my view.

And I’ve already elaborated my point. The point still stands. Tax credits aren’t new and are seen as a great way to incentivize people to do things they wouldn’t otherwise do.

Seriously? He was actually loading CARROTS as made this request? What WH dingbat thought that was cute?
    https://www.deseret.com/2022/1/9/22...ped-will-they-be-back-democrats-manchin-biden

That's simple enough, if you aren't working, you don't need help paying for childcare because you have time to watch your own kids. Manchin also wants measures to ensure that the money actually goes to the person caring for the child. Under the current set up, if parents are druggies, and the child is being cared for by a grandparent, the money would go to druggies not the grand parent. Manchin wants that addressed.

Seems workable. If Dementia Joe can quit calling everyone who doesn't hold his view "terrorists" or "Jefferson Davis" they ought to be able to work something out. Of course, the upper income earners don't need this tax cut.

It will need to be offset by either funding cuts elsewhere or tax hikes, or tariffs, or something, with our inflation rates going through the roof, obviously the economy can stand no more hot money.

BIDENFLATION: Bidenomics cost the average worker nearly two paychecks in 2021.

“To put this into more practical terms, the average U.S. worker earns 26 paychecks a year on a biweekly pay schedule. Inflation in 2021 effectively wiped out nearly two of those 26 paychecks. Suffice it to say, the devastation of inflation is not evenly distributed, and as usual, the data demonstrate the damage is regressive.”

    Yes. Enough is enough.
So, he needs to settle down with this kind of crap, and, if he can manage to shut up with the "everyone that disagrees with me is a terrorist" crap, He should be able to come up with plan to restore this credit that can garner sixty votes. This credit is very popular in Utah, I'm sure the Utah Senators will support it, if it's paid for and properly tailored.

We were at 3.6% unemployment here in December.........................in DECEMBER 2020!!!! Still there. Record job openings there is no reason we aren't back to where we were pre-COVID and all government payments back to those levels. Once again he wants to inflate the currency which is a tax on all us us especially those of us in retirement and on fixed incomes.

Don't you love government lingo?? It is how the government engages in wealth transfer which never made anyone at the bottom rich. Milton Friedman first proposed the negative income tax as a way to get people to work and adding to their earned income. He later regretting saying that even he underestimated how people would rather live a lower standard of living if they didn't have to work much to get it. And since that time it has grown exponentially.

Why do you care how parents get their lawfully enacted tax credit?

It's one thing, just as you get a deduction off you income for basic cost of living, to say OK it cost x amount for the basic cost of a citizen you are raising/caring for so you don't have to pay income tax on that amount of your income because it is used for those basic needs. It is entirely another that OK you have a child the government will pay for ALL the cost of raising that child and in fact GIVE you money above your income.
