Are you f***ing chitting me? THAT is your specific example? All you've done is expose the very things the GOP does absolutely squat about in regards to domestic policy. To somehow throw this out as a reason for the right's anemic and amateurish foreign policy position is ludicrous, but expected from what has become of the GOP. IF, and this a very big IF, the GOP actually did something in regards to the above then maybe, just maybe, they would have a legitimate say on foreign aid, but being that the GOP, the very same GOP that tried multiple times (to the point of losing count) that tried to overturn Obamacare, which addresses a good chunk of the above, then maybe they would have a leg to stand on.
So how many years have the Democrats had enough power to actually do something about the issues? Or is it only about throwing blame at the Republicans? I'm neither, yet I have issues with money being sent overseas when the issues here in the US are not being addressed. And, if you would actually look at the PPACA (with the pre-existing clause aside) insurance is not heath care, it is a front loaded payment mechanism. That's it, no more, no less. If you actually want to address healthcare, then consider actual access points for well care, on a sliding scale basis. Instead of giving people a piece of paper and pushing them out the door and gloating because 'something was done', why not give them actual access... where they actually receive what the taxpayers are paying for and not enriching insurance companies. How sad thatapparently trying to paint the problem as someone else's fault, instead of actually addressing the issue... your argument is very weak, and it's a shame that instead of doing something, you've chose to blame other people.
It is blatantly clear you have no clue how Obamacare works. And while I agree it is not healthcare, it is far better than anything the Repubs have offered in decades! Quite pathetic that you cannot even admit that.
It's public information. The NIH funded the Wuhan lab. Why don't you keep up or take your propaganda to that conspiracy forum you're talking about.
As a percentage of the economy US is actually pretty stingy compared to other nations (#23). Some European nations give 7 times as much. US aid is typically military aid and money, which disappears in corrupt pockets. Other countries aid is more about helping poor countries help themselves, but the goal is to open those countries to exports from the helping nation.
And do you even know what that figure is? I'll save you the trouble. It's about $47 billion a year. How much do we spend on healthcare? Over $1.2 trillion. Get your priorities straight! Foreign aid is a drop in the bucket.
Really? I am quite aware how insurance works. I am also quite aware that insurance does not guarantee the person actually receives care, but hey, let's have everyone pay for insurance that may or may not get used. Your assumption that I don't agree on the health care from the Republicans really pretty much says it all. Requiring lock step shows that you have a closed mind, and believe that the PPACA is a work of art. Nope, not even close.
So you don't think the $47 Billion that you quoted would do any good at all. I'm sure those in need appreciate the cavalier attitude about helping others before helping US citizens. I've got my priorities in fine shape. I care about my fellow citizens. You, however....
Really? What programs have been stopped by 'Repubs', and what beneficial programs have been added by 'Demos'.
Totally agree. The problem that's way too common today, with both US and foreign players in the aid game, is the cancer we all carry, corruption.
Excuse me, where did I ever imply that it was? All I said was, that it was more than the Repubs have offered, which is zilch.
Now you're twisting. When shown the comparative difference you obfuscate and try to steer the direction anywhere else other than the roadkill you left in the middle of the road. The fact that you refuse to grasp that is all the proof we need. This is one of those prime examples that regardless of what you call yourself, if you sound like a minion and act like one, then it's fairly safe to consider you one.
Shall I quote back you post to you? What is handed out to foreign countries is 'a drop in the bucket', no twisting on my part, that was your statement. I think it can have an effect, if you don't agree, then you need to specify what you think is beneficial for citizens of this country, drop in the bucket and all that. What 'road kill' did I leave? Nothing, I've been quite clear. If you can't grasp that, I can't help you. Go ahead and cheer send money to foreign countries when our own citizens are needing some help. Very clear, very specific.
What did I 'obfuscate? I spoke very clearly. That $47Billion you treated as 'no big' IS big to those that need it.
And we already are! You seem to operate under the belief that the US government can't walk and chew gum at the same time. It just blows my mind the inane argument you're making here. 'Foreign aid is pointless, we should spend it on our own citizens', but when it comes to legislating that very thing, Repubs vote against it because they don't want to create a "nanny state". Unf***ing believable!
You should Google how internet forums work when you make claims... Or just keep making unsubstantiated claims and expect that other people are supposed to go run to Google to see if what you're saying is true
I know how they work and I also know to not wast my time spoon-feeding information to people who are too lazy to look up thinks for themselves. Those who are interested will educate themselves while others choose ignorance.
We very seldom give foreign aid that does not tie directly back to the US companies of the DoD---you have to buy it from the US, have it built in the US, etc etc. There is little charity about it. It is corporate subsidies at its finest. I am fine with stopping all of it.
Public information is often misinformation. Trump made sure of that. Do you actually have a link to the "fact" that the US aided the Wuhan Lab after it became the suspected source of Covid? (assuming that before covid, the lab was just fine). If so, perhaps we could start a conspiracy theory that suggests that US money was deliberately used in China to develop the virus so it could blame China and justify all sorts of sanctions and tariffs, get leverage to increase the military in the South China sea and impress allies in order to gain support. Gosh these conspiracy theories are easy to create...
