Your own source says only 216 of the tests were explosions... and they were conducted between 1945 and 1992. None for the last 30 years.

 

The whole debate is pointless. We are talking about nuclear weapons hitting populated areas. Tests are something completely different. Modern nuclear weapons are at least 10 times more powerful than the bomb that hit Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

Many of the modern nuclear weapons in Russian and U.S. nuclear weapons are thermonuclear weapons and have explosive yields of the equivalent at least 100 kilotons of dynamite - and some are much higher. For example, there are some estimates that only one 100-kiloton nuclear weapon dropped on New York City could lead to roughly 583,160 fatalities. That is just from the initial blast.

 

The point is that many claim that a few hundred or even a few thousand nukes would render earth unlivable, while in reality the earth already experienced several thousand detonations.

 

Nukes come in all sizes.... as low as 2.5kt...5 kt... 7.5kt... 15kt (Hiroshima)... I Commanded an M110A2 Artillery Battery in Germany that could deliver these yields. M109 artillery could go down to 1.2 kt. These yields are not strategic in nature. And if they are detonated high enough, there is no "militarily significant" fallout and little material damage. (The primary casualty producing characteristic of a tactical nuke is radiation.)
