Why do you think Putin will hand out 15 year prison sentences to anyone who challenges official figures from the ministry of defense?
Ukrainian side already counted 11,000 corpses of Russian troops. A few days ago a group of about 1,000 Russian troops in Kherson airport were carpet bombed with Grad. All died. The war is not progressing - your troops can’t take any large city. At this point Pootin just keeps throwing cannon fodder at Ukrainian positions.
There is a reason why your authorities equate stating Ukrainian count on social media to murder. ;)

Ukraine should be neutral, but neutral on Ukrainian terms, not Russian.

Can you provide proof? Links to sources? It is precisely because of such false propaganda that it was necessary to introduce criminal liability for the dissemination of fakes.

Do you know why I don't believe in the 11k dead figure? Because I know that according to statistics in any war, 5-6 wounded fall to 1 killed.

    This means,
that there should be about 50k wounded in hospitals - and this is half of the entire grouping of troops. It's impossible to hide it. But there is no information about such a number of wounded.

P.S. official statistics do not take into account the losses of the Donbass guards. They have their own army.

    Putin has no good choices.

What Putin’s top aides need to tell him today
    Opinion by Michael Vickers

". . . The briefing, if it is an honest one, ought to go something like this:

Here is the situation, Mr. President: Our rapid-strike plan was supposed to have caused the Zelensky government to quickly capitulate, enabling us to install a puppet regime in Kyiv and incorporate Ukraine into the Russian Federation. Instead, it has unified the West, kindled in the Ukrainian people a fierce resistance, and led the NATO alliance and the European Union to boost their military support for Ukraine and impose economy-destroying sanctions on Russia.

We have suffered thousands of casualties . . . We have lost hundreds of combat vehicles. . . .

Our economy is being squeezed by sanctions . . . Protests are breaking out in several Russian cities, despite the fact that we have arrested thousands of demonstrators.

Our options now are not great: We could double down in Ukraine by leveling Kyiv, Kharkiv and other major cities with artillery, missiles and airstrikes, killing large numbers of civilians. We could use chemical weapons, as Assad did in Syria, to terrorize the population further.

But the costs of taking these steps would be high and are unlikely to compel the Ukrainian people to give up. Even if we find and eliminate President Zelensky, he will be replaced by another leader, even in exile, and the war will go on. The longer it does, the more casualties we will suffer; and the more our military will be degraded. . . . "

They add numbers based on daily briefings from Ukrainian Ministry of Defense.

No, Russian government uses extreme measures to hide the count from its residents. Now, in Russia, it’s either 500 troops died in Ukraine or a 15 year prison sentence.

This war in many ways is very different from other wars - internet is everywhere in Ukraine, all people are very active on social media. The government, celebrities, intelligentsia - all openly call for all Ukrainians to kill Russian troops. Not imprison, not report their location, not piss in their water - murder is what is actively popularized by everyone in Ukrainian information space. Many fighters on videos I saw openly stated they do not take prisoners, preferring to kill instead. Ukrainians are at a point where they know NATO isn’t coming, but they have all the weapons on the ground they need, so they just exterminate invaders. The extermination of the occupants is quite literally a thing on Ukrainian social media now.
Why do you think your military can’t take any large city? On the map it looks like Russians made some progress, but sitting in the field in the middle of nowhere is not the same as raising a Russian flag over a city. ;)

How many surface explosions has the world seen counting all nuke powers? Seems old Mama Earth has pretty much absorbed our wickedness.

Do you think these reports can be trusted? How can Ukraine, in principle, know the number of those killed by the enemy? These dead are in the rear as a rule. It is foolish to believe in the adequacy of the count of other people's victims.
because they don't want to resort to carpet bombing like the Americans did. There are people in the cities.

That’s why they call this number an estimate. ;)

Why are you bombing Kharkiv then?

He should shut up. This isn't helping
Do they have the capacity for carpet bombing? I don't think that has ever played a role in their strategy.

Sen. Manchin reiterates support for banning Russian oil imports

    From CNN's Ali Main

After hearing from Ukrainian President Zelensky in a virtual meeting with American lawmakers on Saturday, Sen. Joe Manchin reiterated his support for cutting off the Russian oil sector from the US and said he wouldn't take the option of a no-fly zone over Ukraine "off the table."

Manchin called the Zoom meeting with Zelensky "surreal," saying on NBC's "Meet the Press," "all [Zelensky] asked for basically, just help me. I'll fight my own flight, just give me the tools to do it, and for us to hesitate, for anyone to hesitate in the free world is wrong."

Pressed specifically on Zelensky's request for a no-fly zone, something top US and NATO officials have pushed back on, Manchin said, "I would take nothing off the table, but I would let it be very clear that we're going to support the Ukrainian people."

Manchin emphasized that the Ukrainian president also asked for Western nations to help get more planes to his country to fight Russia.

"Zelensky very clearly said we don't need you to fight our fight. We don't need you to fly our planes or fly your planes into our war zone. We need the planes that we can fly ourselves, and we have them on the border," he said.

The West Virginia Democrat again expressed his support for banning Russian oil imports, saying his constituents think "it's basically foolish for us to keep buying products and giving profit, giving money, to Putin to be able to use against Ukrainian people."

Some more context: Manchin and Sen. Lisa Murkowski introduced a bipartisan bill on Thursday to cut off Russian oil and increase US domestic production to make up for it.

Addressing the potential economic impact of this move, Manchin said gas prices are already high and "it wasn't because of this."

"Inflation has already wreaked havoc on it now, and basically we're gonna say we're gonna sit back now because we're afraid it might go up a little bit more, it might go up anyway. We have done nothing. I'm willing to least do something," he said, adding that he thinks the US can both ramp up domestic energy production and transition to cleaner fuel technology at the same time.

Asked about the effect of the war in Europe on how his party approaches its climate agenda, part of President Biden's social spending plan that Manchin effectively stalled last year, he answered, "I think it makes us more realistic. This is this is the real world. We keep talking these aspirational things we want to do, whether it's the far left or right whatever it may be, forget about the aspiration."

"Our energy that we produce in America is better and cleaner than anyplace else in the world, so anything that we backfill is going to be better than what they produce," he said.

Manchin said no formal talks are going on right now about Biden's spending plan.

I hope that, despite whatever it may do to gas prices and such in the short term, a majority of us all across the political spectrum can agree on this. Until Russian energy exports are seriously affected, Putin won't take us seriously.

well, i.e. you admit that where they estimated 11k killed, maybe 500 real people :)
In the photograph, Colin Powell holds up a test tube purportedly containing a biological weapon found in Iraq. That's what he used as an argument for starting a war: Saddam Hussein has chemical weapons.

After Hussein was promoted, all of Iraq was searched, but no chemical or biological weapons were found.

    In other words,
Hussein's assassination was organized on a false pretext from the UN rostrum.

Of course, not so literally - but it looks ugly.

Ok, whatever you say. But I spent my life as a military trainer in uniform and out. All I can say is that a career in the business tells me that training according tested methods is key. An Apache driver must have 1,000 hours in rotary wing. Then he goes to Rucker FOR A YEAR to learn how to FLY Apache... then goes to Hood for a second year to learn how to FIGHT an Apache... before he/she is deployable.

His goal was to get the US out of Nato. The only cooperation he got was everybody whishing him to lose the 2020 election.

I thought they were leaving by 2025. This is not in the news in western media, so I’m not sure if the video is true or fake.

Wow... that's some serious propaganda there. I served for two years in Iraq and every Kurd could tell you about family members killed by Sadaam's "yellow Rain"... that's Russian made "liquefied soman".. a persisten nerve agent.

The terrorist that murdered an American named Klinghoffer was found in a Baghdad apartment complex owned by Sadaam (Read about the ship that was hijacked and Klinghoffer's murder at your leisure.)

But what REALLY matters is that CONGRESS approved Operation Iraqi Freedom. So did the UN. So despite your obvious pacifist leanings... it was all legal and proper.

Hussein's execution was preceded by an IRAQI TRIAL that sentenced him to death. I remember when he was executed... firing broke out all over. We thought we were being attacked. It was just the populace celebrating.
