Here's something else to think about. Many countries, before everything began to spin, removed their embassies from Kyiv. This means that with a high probability, almost 100%, they expected strikes on Kiev from the Russian Federation. At the same time, they could not know exactly the plans of the Russian Federation (with any effective work to hide them). That a Russian strike is possible - of course, they knew.
And what it will definitely be, in any case - here it was necessary to know the plans of the ukrov, and then retaliatory strikes were also easy to calculate. If ukry attack Donbass, then there will be a retaliatory strike from the Russian Federation. With a high probability - in decision-making centers, that is, in this case, in Kiev. Thus, it is very likely that
that the Ukrainians wanted to rush to the Donbass and they were actually preempted.

What bizarre logic. Almost as if you were working backwards from a conclusion...oh....wait.

Russia spent months massing troops on Ukraine's border and Kyiv was clearly a target. Evacuating an Embassy is easy and in this circumstance sensible. The idea that this was done because they were expecting Ukraine to invade Donbass is pure fiction.

Either you understand that and you are placing deliberate untruths on this board, or you are treating every iteration of Russian propaganda as fact. Both oprions speak to credibility.

I understand what you are saying but I do not understand your point. Why should we criticize Russia but let the Yanks go scotfree? Banned weapons, war crimes, crimes against humanity, government-level sanction of the use of torture, political imprisonment, assassinations, illegal invasions, black flag operations, political coups, military coups, fabricating evidence, etc. etc. etc. Yes, the US gets away with all of that and more. I say that Russia has the same right to chose to do the same. The fact that Russia doesn't do all of that deserves praise!

    We shouldn't.

There is a difference in degree here. Putin is currently using cluster bombs, we haven't used them for 30 years.. That's part of the Russian terror campaign approach, which is bomb a city into ruble, and them bomb the rubble.

A right to do war crimes? Interesting.

You have the beginnings of an excellent argument to expand the authority of international courts, one I would support. What you don't have is an argument that we should tolerate mass murder.

haha. And in the Court of your country, such an excuse will work? "Well, I killed a man a long time ago, it doesn't count"... look, you don't have to justify yourself, saying: "We stopped dropping atomic bombs on cities a long time ago" ;-)

Israel has their own Russian problem with its neighbor Syria. Russia helped to crush the popular uprising
against the Assad govt in Syria. Levelling Aleppo for instance - just like Grozny.
And Russia allows Israel to go after the Islamists such as Hezbollah, ISIS, Al Queada and Iran. So their
    relationship with Russia is complicated.

This is cowardly. We got a letter from Australian friends who managed to get to Poland.
They said the Russians attacked at night, after promising they wouldn't attack at all.

You are very strange. Russia did not promise not to attack anyone there, on the contrary. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that mercenaries in Ukraine are becoming the same target, only without the right to be captured. At night? Maybe another SMS should have been sent that a rocket would arrive?

Who banned TOS-1A? Phosphorus bombs used by the Ukrainian side are prohibited by the Geneva Convention, yes. According to TOS, someone from the Americans was asked to consider a ban, there is no ban.

Pay attention to the date of the photos. It wasn't Russia that attacked Aleppo that year

Absolutely. Putin's trolls on this very forum a few weeks back that PUTIN WILL NOT INVADE UKRAINE.
It's only 'exercises.' Who said this? Putin.
In fact Putin STILL says there's no invasion - just a 'military exercise.' Military exercises don't involve
invading other countries and using live ammunition to actually kill peole. That's not 'exercises.'

you always talk so funny about the city of Grozny :) Maybe you will show the ruins of another city as an example?

    For example:
Suggest the name of this city, which was in ruins? No, this is not Hiroshima or Nagasaki.

The Russians did not promise that "Won't attack at all". Putin said that a military operation is possible if Ukraine does not leave Donbas alone. Ukraine thought it was a joke....a mistake.

By the way, if the armed forces of Ukraine do not stop putting their missile systems in the urban development of Kiev, you will have another city to discuss

You'd better not say things like that. Why? We've been discussing here that topic for almost a decade. Some of us, based on facts and logic simply said that Russia poses no threat to the western world. The size of the economy, the size of the army etc....On the other hand, there is a group of propagandists who kept saying that the Russian army is an existential threat and is going to take over the whole of eastern Europe plus Germany. How idiotic. So all of you who bought those moronic lies look pretty much stupid right now. No? In summary, use your own brain, critical thinking and logic to reach a conclusion. Is it that hard to use your own brains?

What the West feared duriing the Cold War was the Soviet Union and the Warsaw Pact.
Putin laments the passing of the USSR. He had worked to re-create it by taking back
nations that saw their opportunity to break with Russia when the Berlin Wall came down,
and took it. So Ukraine is planned to be a part of a new USSR, only this time it isn't going
    to happen.

No-no. I've already been there along with every other blue-eyed chump who's been indoctrinated with double standards. I've seen the world with my own two eyes since then and I don't get the wool pulled over my eyes anymore. I play by the rules unless you cheat and then your screwed because I'll come at you from 360° and no holds barred.

This is about international law, not domestic law.

Let's assume we expanded international law, so that it could effectively prosecute war crimes. You have a statute of limitations for good reason. Countries could use old conflicts to pursue old grudges.

So one of the things that would need to happen is to have a statute of limitations. There would be likely different limitations reflecting the severity of different crimes.

I don't much care what the numbers are, just that they are there, along with the authority to pursue criminals like Putin.

I see you call upon the international law. Are you aware that if you applied the international law correctly then George Bush, Bill Clinton, Obama, Tony Blair and many other western politicians and military men should be charged with crimes against humanity and genocide. Add Israelis to the mix too.

This war is a straightforward confrontation of good (Ukraine) and evil (Russia). There is no middle ground.

One of Putin's political enemies was on Youtube today warning about Putin. He ought to know,
    he was poisoned twice.
Many of Putin's enemies have a strange way of ending up dead or in prison on 'corruption' charges
for the rest of their shortened lives.
Don't support Putin - you look like a Russian troll.
