I believe it was Victoria Nuland who appointed Obama for the Nobel Peace Price for saying he was against war, and then he not only had the coup in Kiev, but attacked and killed Ghadaffy, and started the war in Syria to over throw Assad and break up the country into ethnic and religious enclaves.

Noble must be turning in his grave.

I notice you didn't dispute Putin's likely demise.
As for the rest, only the Ukrainian people were responsible for the 2014 uprising.
It is a pity that Obama did not try harder to get rid of Assad.

Jack, I don't like you. I don't agree with any of your Cold War propaganda. Most of the time I just pass over your nonsense because it's just a waste of time. And that goes for a lot of the posts on this thread.

And I'm certainly not going to try to educate someone who only spews propaganda. It would be akin to trying to get CNN to report real news.

That's OK. Many people in Moscow and St. Petersburg have disliked me for years.

There's no question it's bleeding a lot worse than Afghanistan, both in human and financial terms.

By this Thursday, they'll have lost as many men in the 5 weeks of Putler's invasion of Ukraine as the Soviets lost in 10 years of combat in Afghanistan, and they'll have burned through 41% of Russia's total GDP for 2021.

It's little wonder that Emperor Xi's pygmy vassal in the Ulus of Jochi is crawling to Beijing begging for help....

It makes me wonder what kind of peace deal Ukraine will ultimately get out of them. Probably everything but Crimea, I'd have to guess.

This is what Russia is fighting. He's reminiscent of the attitude the Western Ukrainians had towards the Poles in WWII, when they hacked them to death - including children. Then it was the Polish lands they wanted, now it's the Russian lands in the Donbass.

"Yes, I am a Nazi! And I was killing them in Donetsk from the age of 17. We don't need them and they need to be destroyed!"

The war in Ukraine has reached a turning point. The Russian troops that invaded the country from the north, south, and east are now scarcely moving. They have targeted schools, hospitals, apartment buildings, and a theater sheltering children, but they are not yet in control even of the places they occupy. And no wonder: Few Ukrainians are willing to collaborate with the occupiers. The overwhelming majority, more than 90 percent, believe they will defeat them. The Ukrainian army refuses to surrender, even in cities badly damaged by bombardment.

Russian planners expected the entire war, the conquest of Ukraine, to last no more than six weeks. More than half that time has already passed. There must be an endgame, a moment when the conflict stops. The Ukrainians, and the democratic powers that support Ukraine, must work toward a goal. That goal should not be a truce, or a muddle, or a decision to maintain some kind of Ukrainian resistance over the next decade, or a vow to “bleed Russia dry,” or anything else that will prolong the fighting and the instability. That goal should be a Ukrainian victory.
All in all, Ukraine has been keeping up with defending their democracy the best way they know how even though their major cities are in ruins by the Russian forces that want Putin's dictatorship in place. It won't look like Putin will get to have his dictatorship in Ukraine anytime soon if Russia keeps losing the battles to Ukraine.

Here's an example of why the Russians are shooting at civilian homes... even a tank disguised under a carpet remains a tank. Military equipment. Their fault will be that a rocket will fly into this yard.

That's a good question. Unless Putin gets shot I don't see a permanent peace deal happening.

There is active mobilization going on in Ukraine. They draft and train new troops. Stalled war is still favoring Ukraine because it’s force continues to grow.
The longer this war drags on the more personnel Ukrainian military has, which should enable Ukraine to eventually push Russian fascists out by force.

Guess again? The Donetsk and Lugansk Republics will get all the territories they freed with their blood, and Kherson is having a referendum as to whether they want to remain with Ukraine or independence.

If Ukraine doesn't bow to Russia's demands, then Odessa will be lost to them as well. If Russia's demands aren't made after that, then they've lost Kiev.

That's the only peace deal I really see happening - one the Ukrainian military can effect on the ground.

Other than that, the only peace deal that will allow Russia to save face will involve Putin assuming room temperature, and even then there are going to be a host of issues involving reparations, etc., that will remain to be resolved.

Yup. Dictators who lead their countries into unsuccessful foreign adventures generally come to unhappy ends.

They believe that their lies are going to defeat Russia's missiles and they will win the war. So while Zalensky concentrates on how to kill Russian civilians in the Donbass - thinking that they are still part of Ukraine and that through genocide the demographics will change, Russia concentrates on destroying their supplies and weapons.

The 130 precision hits on Ukraine's military arms and supplies, came from missiles shot from ships in the Caspian and Black Sea.

The Russian campaign will be studied for years, but not in a good way -- more of an autopsy.

Russia is misusing its tanks. What does that mean for the weapon's future?
    Opinion by Max Boot

". . . The Russians have attacked using large numbers of tanks and armored vehicles, which again emphasizes their importance on the battlefield. But the Russians have also suffered devastating vehicle losses at the hands of Ukrainian troops armed with potent, hand-held antitank missiles such as the American Javelin and the British NLAW (Next Generation Light Antitank Weapon). The Ukrainians have also made good use of Turkish Bayraktar TB2 drones firing antitank missiles. Open-source reporting indicates that the Russians have lost more than 1,600 vehicles and equipment, including nearly 300 tanks and more than 500 armored vehicles of other kinds. . . . "

Putin's Brutality Incurs The Hatred Of Formerly Pro-Russian Ukrainians: Engel

Richard Engel, NBC News chief foreign correspondent, reports on how not only is Vladimir Putin's invasion of Ukraine stumbling militarily, but the "hearts and minds" of Russian-speaking Ukrainians who might have supported Putin have turned on him with a passionate hatred for what he has done to their home.

How about that, @Bill Carson ?
