That's maybe a bad thing for your Russians....I assume that the idea will be at some point to enter the city in which case it gets very difficult for them. Having converted the town to ruble the ground looks nothing like the map, so it is difficult for the attacking force to orientate itself (lets assume for the sake of argument they know what they're doing and operating to some sort of plan). The attackers will find it impossible to assault through, when there are no obvious features or rally points. If they are using vehicles or heavy kit their progress will be severely if not completely impeded by obstacles. Even air recce doesn't know what it is looking at and so far Russian FACs have not been worth their rations so that's an even bigger issue. Conversely the defenders can hide much better in irregular lines, as they don't stand out like a sore thumb and can re-organise the rubble in any form or pattern they like. They also know the area and, even though things have been turned to rubble, have common references for place names etc. A lot more lives going to be lost if the Russians start thinking about advancing in to the city. A lot of troop will have to remain to assert control of the streets that have "cleared".. I mean this could become a real nightmare for the poor conscripts....

maybe make up a poem for the families that are about to lose more sons...

@Caligula Hi mate...wasn't there a string of articles in the German media a while back about Muslims beating folk up? Now its moving on to the Ukrainians I guess..??

Russia will leave Ukraine in ruins to get what they want to win. Russia is stripping Ukraine of their Buildings and neighborhoods but haven't striped Ukraine of their democracy and self pride and spirit. Ukraine still thinks they can beat Russia.

    :roflol: Damn the projection.

The Russian controlled area in Ukraine is the size of the United Kingdom. Put another way, larger than Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania combined.

Zelensky hasn't been in the country for the last 6 days.

Yeah, looking real bad for the Rooskies :-D

Ukraine's government said 10 hospitals have been completely destroyed in Russia's invasion, including one that was decimated by a Russian missile strike on Monday.

"I want to cry, because we had a connection between Ukraine and Russia," doctor Anatoli Pavlov said. "Russian cruelty is so brutal."

The U.S. has evidence that Russia is deliberately and intentionally targeting civilians, including hospitals and places of shelter, a senior Defense Department official told CBS News. The U.S. said it has seen clear evidence the Russians are committing war crimes as civilians are killed in their homes and on the street.

Putin has been cavalier in his efforts to invade Ukraine and destroying several hospitals which there were some lives destroyed in those places. I don't think Putin cares for anyone except himself. That would make him a selfish bastard.

    Yes, it is.

". . . In Russia, the slow going and the heavy toll of President Vladimir V. Putin’s war on Ukraine are setting off questions about his military’s planning capability, his confidence in his top spies and loyal defense minister, and the quality of the intelligence that reaches him. It also shows the pitfalls of Mr. Putin’s top-down governance, in which officials and military officers have little leeway to make their own decisions and adapt to developments in real time.

The failures of Mr. Putin’s campaign are apparent in the striking number of senior military commanders believed to have been killed in the fighting. Ukraine says it has killed at least six Russian generals, while Russia acknowledges one of their deaths, along with that of the deputy commander of its Black Sea fleet. American officials say they cannot confirm the number of Russian troop deaths, but that Russia’s invasion plan appears to have been stymied by bad intelligence. . . . "

The term democracy never meant quite what it pretended to mean but it has since become synonymous of countries that elect (no matter how fair or unfair, how representative or unrepresentative, their elections) pro-western leaders. Otherwise, there is nothing but propaganda that would make Ukraine (a corrupt polity beholden to foreign connections) any more democratic than Russia.

And I'm not trying to counter the anti-Russia propaganda because I am somehow pro Russian. There isn't much about Russia that appeals to me. In fact, Russia has historically (e.g., Russo-Persian wars of 1804-13, and 1816-18, or the support by the Soviet Union to Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war) and to this day done times worse to Iran than the US (e.g., Russian treachery against Iran in Syria). Even right now, the Russians are trying to forge their only coherent alliance of sorts with Iran's most hateful enemies: Israel, UAE, Saudi Arabia. These countries, all considered US allies are either straddling the fence when it comes to the Ukraine-Russia conflict (Israel) or have already began tilting towards Russia (UAE, Saudi Arabia). In fact so weird is this political realignment that I even half suspect they must be Trojan horses sent by the US!

Whatever Ukraine may or may not have been in the past, this war ensures its democratic future. This kind of commonly shared national epic corrodes privilege and enables equality.

Russians not meeting expectations in the air.
Why Russia's vastly superior air force hasn't triumphed

Military analysts expected Russian forces to quickly destroy or paralyze Ukraine's air defenses and military aircraft, yet neither has happened.

Local pilots hold one advantage »

". . . Ukrainian pilots do have one advantage. In most of the country, Russian planes fly over territory controlled by the Ukrainian military, which can move anti-aircraft missiles to harass — and shoot down — planes.

“Ukraine has been effective in the sky because we operate on our own land,” said Yuriy Ihnat, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian air force. “The enemy flying into our airspace is flying into the zone of our air defense systems.” He described the strategy as luring Russian planes into air defense traps. . . . "

No. This war is used to breathe new life to a dying order (North Atlantic Alliance). Whether it succeeds or not in breathing that new life, Ukraine will be its casualty.

The presence of military equipment in the yard of a residential building is already a crime. Camouflage can be any - the main thing is that the car is not identified as a target. And in the upper floors of the building, snipers or anti-tank crews can easily be located ... since the conscience was enough to place a combat vehicle in the yard.

You know what would be nice... If US soldiers and personell mutinied. No drills, no training, nothing until we first secure our borders at home and enforce the laws on the books and deport illegal criminals and aliens. Then we can entertain defending European borders. This is as influential as patriotic Americans have been and will be in a long time.

No need. The borders are secure, laws are enforced and illegals are deported.

Of course, a Russian controlled Europe, in alliance with China, could send America back to to the stone
age. Then you will be worried about Americans LEAVING what's left of the USA. You need to always watch
    your back.
