Vladimir Putin's tightly-controlled state TV has broadcast warning messages that there could be a 'direct clash' between Russia and the West - and nuclear weapons would need to be used 'whether we like it or not'

Russian propaganda claims Vladimir Putin will unleash his nuclear weapons early if NATO peacekeepers are put on the ground in Ukraine - which would spark World War 3.

Very scary talk. I feel like as each day passes, we are getting closer to experiencing what happens in the movie " Threads". Seeing how the world responded to Covid-19, it's scary to think what would happen in a true disaster.

Cold hard truth: Ukrainian sovereignty isn't intercontinental nuclear war. All you people saying we need to send them more weapons, and put troops on the ground, and no fly zones, and more sanctions, and everything else - you all need to fkin chill and reflect upon the consequences of backing a rabid dog into a corner.

The daily Star is one of the joke "news papers" produced in the UK and only came popular due to the bare breasted women on page 5 everyday in the 19070s.

Biden/NATO to promise assistance if Russians use chemical weapons. Now gee, there's a 'red line' the Russians have heard before(the Syrian crisis.) Well, if we'd just reinforced Ukraine from the start, none of this would happen.

He said it would trigger a response "in kind". I'm not sure exactly what he means by that (heck, I'm not sure Biden is even exactly sure what he means by that), but it sounds like something more significant than "assistance", which conjures up rather benign images.

It also, quite obviously, raises the risk of a false flag event. Biden is basically giving desperate Ukrainians a road map to get NATO involved militarily. Frame the Russians for a chemical weapons attack and you'll probably get your NATO-enforced no-fly-zone and more.

We have danced around this for weeks and so many here have fully dismissed the obvious. Putin is insane.

And what do you think happens when we don't honor the budapest accords?
Do you think any nation without nukes is going to do anything but acquire them as quickly as possible?

So shoot him in the ****ing head and have done then. Better, shoot him up with a speed ball and let him be found with both a dead girl and a live boy.

Western leftists are giving Iran a nuclear weapons program right now. Russia is giving Belarus nukes. DPRK, Iraq, will be next. Libya will restart their program. Various South American nations will buy their way in. The list goes on and on and on.

Sorry folks the future has been cast. This is the way things will be from now on. We were all fkin warned about the dangers of letting the Marxist cancer spread. We were told it would be the death of the only bastion of strength and freedom this dark world had and many of us shrugged it off because some tool 'fact checker' or celebutard mouthpiece made them think being a prog was 'cool'.

We have sown and now we will reap. The strong will hold the world hostage because nobody will risk vaporized cities and nuclear hellfire. So deal with the consequences when it happens elsewhere and hope that you've lived your life to its extent before it happens here.

Is it just me or does this look more or less like a "delete the blue" map?

Agreed. With the exception of sending them weapons. Not necessarily sending their military weapons, but sending weapons to allow the Ukrainian people to defend themselves. Although this is of course difficult now that battle is engaged. Ideally, The People would have been armed prior to being invaded. IMO this should be the focus of the 'military' or 'defense' aspect of our foreign policy- ensuring The People in 'at risk' regions are suitably armed to defend themselves. Battle rifles, body armor and portable anti-armor weapons would suffice. Let the people decide whether they want to tolerate the invaders or fight them. If Russia's claims that they're protecting culturally Russian populations are true (or if Russia has any interest in at least attempting to depict those claims as true) then we would be helping that cause by helping those populations defend themselves too. I don't think even the most crazed of regimes would be able to justify using nukes as a response to arming civilians with defensive weaponry.

FWIW, I think you're probably right here. The odds of a nuclear war are uncomfortably high right now. Putin's certainly got a lot of blame for that, but I think Biden is badly mishandling the situation too, as are the various politicians calling for direct conflict with Russia. And regardless of whether nuclear war breaks out over Ukraine, I think you're right that there's nuclear war in our future no matter what. Too much proliferation has occurred and is continuing to occur.

It’s saber rattling. Biden knows a punk when he sees one. The sooner Biden is gone the better, and boot Harris out with him.
BTW, what do they juice Biden with for press conferences?

It's all bluster. The war criminals in the Kremlin know that if they start a nuclear war with the United States they will get themselves and their entire country incinerated in return.

The fact of the matter is, the invasion of Ukraine has gone terribly wrong for Putin & Co., so they've decided to cry-bully us with their bellicose rhetoric...

Besides, all this tough talk is for domestic consumption...

So basically do nothing because later it will get even worse when we do nothing?

    Somewhat recursive logic there.

There is no United States if nukes begin to fly. This country will not exist and the balance of power in this world will change drastically.

More like do nothing and it will get bad or do something and risk the very likelihood obliteration. You understand, there is no 'win' here. And the sad fact is eventually obliteration happens anyway. We went from nuclear weapons being in then hands of moral people who tried their best to fully understand the implications of development and use, to nuclear weapons being in then hands of bureaucrats and tacticians interested only in statecraft, to nuclear weapons being in then hands of power thirsty lunatics who would resist using them so long as their thirst for power was satisfied, and now very soon we're going to be putting nuclear weapons into then hands of radical fundamentalist Islamic terrorists who will use them or, by means of sale theft or just disregard, allow them to be used by their proxies.

First you say we all need to chill and let Putin have Ukraine, then argue the dangers of allowing the Marxist cancer to spread?

First off, nobody in Russian command is going to launch nukes at anyone no matter how crazy Putin is. Putin already has thousands of troops refusing to comply and he is jailing his military command over it.
Any attempt by Russia to fuel a liquid fueled ICBM would be met with a huge response by every NATO ally including the US.
And every commander in Russia knows it. These are not the days of the Soviet Union anymore and I doubt they could even get half their missiles off the ground. What is he going to do, fire his missiles at the entire world?

Russia would be a very quiet place for about 10,000 years and his entire command force knows it. They won't follow Putin down that path.
