Democrats are trying to balance their odd desire to control everyone with minimizing the forthcoming asswhoopin' they're about to get in November.

    A variant is a variant.
Technically it's just an evolution of an existing virus [so it's not something totally new for our body].
The evolution of SARS-Cov2 [so far, but statistically it seems to be the real trend] produces variants which are more and more contagious.
This is a problem only in China [where they keep on following their beloved ZCS - Zero Covid Strategy].

With the last variants the right strategy is to give them room. Our populations are vaccinated, so that, leaving these last variants circulate will mean many persons with a kind of cold or flu. Nice. Consider timing ...

If our populations get in touch with these variants now, thanks to the vaccines [which make Covid19 nothing more than a cold] we will generate a natural immunity which will be really useful thinking to next autumn.

This point is important: next autumn we will record an other wave of SARS-Cov2 and it's possible it will be very aggressive.

    It's better to be ready.

me either, who is forcing this on him I wonder, right wing media?

Trump got the vaccine and booster, maybe it's Trump he is upset with?

"Donald Trump recommends people to 'take the vaccine'"

Trump : "I recommend take the vaccines. I did it. It’s good. Take the vaccines"

"Trump says he received vaccine booster shot"

Democrats are polling poorly so they quit with their stupid ideas and thus nobody cares about covid anymore. People are distracted by Ukraine.

They don't understand it's just going to be more and more and more 78 years down the road you might have to have 35 shots and it still won't vaccine at you from the virus.

It's almost like it's an addiction.

If I ever get a covid vaccine it will be the Johnson & Johnson vaccine because you get that one once.

    Coming.........

Israel is making it available for people of 60.

    So what?

Flu vaccines came a long time ago, but I dont hear people shrieking about that. Why? Well, because they have not been told to shriek about it

We can apply some common sense here. We know that corona viruses mutate constantly. We know that favorable mutations survive and unfavorable ones disappear in the course of evolution. What is favorable for a virus? An increase in contagion is certainly favorable since it helps the virus spread. Another favorable characteristic is the reduction in the severity of infection. Dead hosts can't spread a pulmonary virus at all. Common sense says that the natural evolution of a corona virus is to become more contagious and less harmful to the host. It is happening before our very eyes. No surprise at all. The epidemiologists (excluding the government ones, of course) have been predicting it for two years.

Thank you for posting this comprehensive article on the 4th-dose in Israel. The takeaway from it I got is shown below, copied from the end of the report:

"Overall, these analyses provided evidence for the effectiveness of a fourth vaccine dose against severe illness caused by the omicron variant, as compared with a third dose administered more than 4 months earlier. For confirmed infection, a fourth dose appeared to provide only short-term protection and a modest absolute benefit."

To be brief, I don't foresee much likelihood that I'll be having a 4th "jab" anytime soon....

Afterthought: I'm still waiting to see what new horror boils up from China, or some backward, third-world shithole before I roll up my sleeve again.

The rise in cases in the UK is as much a total relaxation far too early of protective measures in crowded indoor spaces.
As the virus mutates, some may want to avoid being ill at all for a variety of reasons, including being able to work and being paid, being a single parent family and already stressed, transmitting it to their children, or having some issues with natural immunity.
Over in China major cities including Shanghai have been in severe lockdown and some have died.
Surely you are not forced to be vaccinated but there may be some who prefer to take advantage of the possibility for their own reasons.

I'm not really sure that it's a clean cut, ProL. As long as our pathways of travel are open, everybody's *stuff* becomes our stuff. We get a little "heads up" since it hits other countries first but it's just around the corner for us. As long as poorer countries can't vaccinate or isolate or mitigate effectively, it IMPACTS us all.

    Image14.jpg

We already know China doesn't give a damn about telling the whole truth or giving anybody heads up. Fauci is one inch below Trump as the biggest liar on the planet. It's a never-ending drama and people are exhausted. Mask-don't mask-can get together with family-but wear masks-get boosters-back to masks...People fighting with strangers, people dying, etc.. It's exhausting.

Nobody is saying run in the street like your hair is caught on fire but the world is continuing to move and, with that, the virus is continuing to mutate and make its rounds. Unless we want to cut off ALL incoming travel, including goods and services...now what?

what caused all this fear is Trump lying to the public early on and playing it down, now the public doesn't know what to believe

and yes, Fauci lying about masks under Trump cause they were in short supply did not help either

Sure it will impact us, but we already know half of the US will pretend there is nothing going on, and now only that, - they will resist every effort made by others to keep it under control.

I seriously doubt that will happen, unless a new variant is much worse than the previous ones.

I don't quarrel with people getting an endless series of shots if they want or need them... but I am frustrated that we never seem to develop a comprehensive understanding of this virus, which almost certainly was developed by someone in a laboratory and then released on the world through negligence and stupidity.

I'll undergo more jabs, but I'd like to have some assurance that the 'experts' are really thinking this thing through!

But you're certainly right -- the Chinese obviously know something they're not letting the rest of us know... the current lockdowns there are absolutely astonishing in scope, including those in Shanghai, China's largest city.

You haven't figured it out yet?
The Democrats want as much power over you as they can get, and the media is more than willing to help them get it.

As soon as it became clear the pandemic was a virus we were told to expect mutations but that until they happened, it was impossible to know if the vaccines already developed were enough or that they had to be tweaked to be effective.
I suspect scientists have been trying to read the runes but not forecast inaccurate information. I also think it prudent to do obvious things to help protect yourself. Obviously. I have reduced the number of events I go to if they were not especially important. It doesn't affect my social life to any important degree and sometimes it gives me a good excuse to duck out of things I wanted to drop before.
I suspect that eventually covid vaccinations will be like other flu protection...annually and voluntarily.
