Trump was oil friendly and Biden vowed to destroy that industry. The Greenies deny that the world runs on oil but it actually does. Fuel for transport will effect the price of everything any of us need to live. Biden knows this but he doesn't care if we hurt, he's on a mission.

    The chair serves a four-year term after being nominated by the President of the United States and confirmed by the United States Senate;
    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chair_of_the_Federal_Reserve
    ...

The above date is when the current chair was confirmed.
    Appointed by trump.
The chair is but one member of the fed res. So the chairman doesn't set rates or control the flow of money either.

And no president can control the economy. It's way to vast to be done by one person.
Especially the economy of the entire world.

What happens to the party in power if it's a bad economy come election time?

Who claims the world doesn't run on oil?
    Quotes?

That house is at LEAST 10x the size of even larger residences, so I'd expect 5000 gallons

He's a former POTUS, not the local HS principal.

Geez, have a little pride in what your country does for our retirees. (oh, sorry, you're Republicans, we don't want the elder's ice floe to be oversized.)

Can the President fire them or are they stuck with the one their predecessor put in office?

Not that simple, there are mainstream economists, who agree on a lot of things.

I have no idea what you see as a major bone of contention.

First, I want to thank you both, for sharing your understandings, of what is not one the most invitingly- clear subjects, despite that it should be part of anyone's basic economic conception. My question is, why could not both of your propositions, above, be true?

But they certainly affect prices. And if overall prices, generally, go up, I don't know how you could differentiate that from "inflation." Are you leaving out some details, in your way of conceiving of this?

Just acknowledging that you've started one of the best debate threads (to this point in my reading), that I've seen here, in a while. I appreciate it.

Placing an eventual ending of government subsidies for the oil industry isnt a war on fossil fuels.

If you owned a corporate mega-farm and raised wheat, and to meet your annual target for supplying the US market your 58 million tons weren't quite enough so you had to import 3 million tons, would you think it reasonable to price your 58 million tons based on the price you paid for the 3 million foreign tons, or based on an average of the total cost of the 61 million tons?

Exxon says the price should be based on the very elevated price of the foreign wheat. (I'm sure excess profits wouldn't be the real motivation. ;^)

It was a simple question, why not just answer it? Give some companies that went out of business.

If you are not familiar, why make a claim you no nothing about?

    Where's the quotes?
At this point, anyone making a claim without a source of evidence, is just making it up.

I already told you why it was a simple explanation why not just accept it?

Your answer is, you aren't informed enough to answer your very own claim? OK.
But no one should accept answers that can't be substantiated.
    Why do you?

Except Saudi Arabia and OPEC had an oil embargo on the United States due to our support for Israel. Today, we have producers who, quite literally, do not want to produce more oil for one reason or another.
