Because? If you believe that a state couldn't make that law, be my guest to explain that.

Another **** decision from this MCOTUS.... Joe needs to consider a rebalance ASAP, before they do any more damage to what was once a fine country...

Abortions will continue in every state in the country going forward... nothing will change that...

I'm torn on this. I can see the argument that states should be able to decide for themselves, I really do.

But the problem is, in the regressive states, this will mean women have no access to abortion. And, depending on how fanatical some of their right-wing politicians are(this will of course vary from state to state), even miscarriages could become suspect. That's absolutely disgusting and terrible, but also at this point, seemingly unavoidable.

I can only hope that the Republicans can reign in some of their more fanatical members.

But legally speaking, the United States has taken a step backwards today. We will now allow individual states to decide whether or not a woman's uterus becomes public property and is wrested from her own control based purely on emotion and religion.

That said, I do not and will not condone any types of violence or property destruction of any kind from anybody upset about this. That they have the right and the reason to be upset, there is no doubt. But that never justifies violence or property destruction.

EDIT: I also don't support dissolving or expanding the court. These are nonsense options.

You're asking a guy who can't keep from falling off a sationary bike to 'rebalance' something?

I'm indifferent on this decision. The States will decide what it's population will want. Look forward to all the outraged blue haired they/thems to riot with umbrellas.

Majority of Americans don’t want Roe overturned

Most Americans do not support the prospect of the nation’s highest court overturning Roe v. Wade, according to the latest PBS NewsHour/NPR/Marist poll, and public confidence in the Supreme Court is plunging.

In the wake of a leaked draft opinion from the high court suggesting a majority of justices want to eliminate federally protected abortion rights, more than half of Americans say they have little to no faith in that institution, and nearly half say the draft decision makes them more likely to vote this November.

The Catholics on the court feel protecting protoplasmic goo based on a religious belief is more important than protecting living, breathing humans.

It is sad but telling to see Republican men gloating that they have taken away one of the most basic rights — bodily autonomy.

Hopefully this wakes up many women.

Clearly, you have not been anywhere in the proximity of this issue in real life. The only parts are made up are by you and others like you that think you know what's best for others.

So, until you're ready to become a child abuse advocate, truant officer, juvenile home staff member, adoptive or foster parent, free sitter, tutor and mentor to a kid in a single-parent household, financially assist unwed mothers with babies they can't feed and/or work in a woman's health clinic, walk the streets at night to make sure women and their babies have at least one meal that day while the mother is out prostituting just for them to survive in a tent city, etc. you have absolutely no room to speak with any authority on any of the hardships this ruling will cause.

And now the people in their respective states can decide the matter.

As the court said there is no inherient right in the Constitution for a mother to purposely kill her baby simple because she doesn't want it to live and to give birth to it. So the argument that a "right" was ended is fallacious as the court clearly ruled this alleged right never existed.

I find it typical that some on the left attempt to place "precedence" over the Constitution itself. The court apparently goes into depth on this in their ruling I look forward to reading. Of course we would still have segregated schools were that to be true that previous decisions cannot be reversed.

So the pro-abortion side can now win in the states or attempt a constitutional amendment to establish a right to kill unborn babies.

It's interesting that Roberts, in his concurrence, blasts the lack of judicial restraint regarding the "bright line" test created by the court in Roe and then turns around and says -

"None of this, however, requires that we also take the dra-
matic step of altogether eliminating the abortion right first
recognized in Roe. Mississippi itself previously argued as
much to this Court in this litigation."

Mr. Chief Justice, is it not the ultimate act of "lack of judicial restraint" for a court to create a right out of whole cloth? What does the 10th Amendment say about that? The legislature can, of course, create civil rights but the judicial branch is not the legislature.

Just going to throw this out because we shouldn't have to deal with all of the BS arguments the left will now claim about other things like Griswald, etc. The court was specific that this decision only refers to Roe and Casey. Nothing else. And it is limited to these. Period. So, libs, please make every effort and try not to fly off and start screeching that other rights not ruled on here today might be in the balance. They are not. Move along.

Exactly correct. Libs, get an amendment for public vote. Or is that what you all fear will happen?

Today's ruling is an interesting juxtaposition with this article in the Nation:

    https://www.thenation.com/article/society/abortion-police/

It argues that you libs need to decide between supporting the police and supporting "people who become pregnant" (yes, that's right, in the whole article they couldn't once mention women)

    That will definitely happen.
History has proven that time and time again

We do have new pharmaceutical options that are easy to transport and get to women in need. I wonder how long until the right create new police divisions to track all miscarriages
