No, it's still about the baby. If you don't want one, then don't get pregnant. Killing it because you f*cked up those simple instructions is barbaric.

Soooooo - what is the access to LARCs like in America?

(Every time a post like this one comes on the board I have a little bet with myself that the poster has no clue about the failure rates of contraceptive methods - have not often been wrong unfortunately)

    Spot on!

Have folks never heard of birth control?

One of the most transphobic posts ever made on this forum. If you made a tweet stating the above, you would be brigaded and forced to shut down your twitter account. You are expressing the morals of a 1990s liberal. The progressive left has moved far beyond that. To assert that men are unable to carry pregnancies to term is to deny the lived reality of transmen. It is hateful and bigoted according to the progressive zeitgeist. Are you going to repudiate your statement above or are you going to join with conservatives and affirm that women actually do exist and are adult human females?

I'm not American, I'm not on the left, I'm not progressive, I'm not on the right, I'm not conservative. I despise Trump and Biden equally.

The only correction to my post, in order to include female to male trans, is "biological men" instead of just "men". Problem solved, no drama.

I'm not your research assistant. If there's a point you'd like to try to make, supported by some evidence, go ahead and collect it yourself and present it to us as best you can.

An adult female knows when she is most likely to get pregnant and when the chances are much lower. Wouldn’t hurt to NOT have sex during certain times to improve the chances of an accident? Or am I infringing on womens rights to expect some sort of responsibility and self moderation and control? Or are humans just animals like rabbits or rats?

What about transwomen (biological men) who have an implanted uterus.... are you now denying their lived reality? Good god, your response is even more transphobic and bigoted than your initial post. Would you like another chance at a response that doesn't dehumanize the trans community? Or.... you could just say that the trans movement is a movement to affirm mental illness and that these people should be accessing mental health facilities instead of having their bodies butchered by greedy doctors.

For the record, here is the political correct way to express your progressive values.
It's your clown world, if we can follow your clown rules, you should as well.

No, abortion is a desire to be free from the consequences of a hedonistic lifestyle.

I'd say with two million men in prison right now for not paying child support that part of the equation is already pretty much in play.

You might notice I never brought up male or female, or you might not have, when it comes to abortion.

It takes two people to create life, and both should share an equal burden of that.

Your problem is that a lot of women agree with me, and disagree with you.

A sub-dermal implant is invasive surgery? You're kidding, right? It's about as invasive as donating blood.

Abortion is 1000X more invasive than that.

Let's look at your "1% failure rate means hundreds of thousands of unwanted pregnancies"

Well, we don't know how many unwanted pregnancies there are total, but we do know how many end in abortion.

There were about 630,000 abortions in 2021. 95% of those weren't using any contraceptives, or not using them consistently.

That's about 600,000 abortions to fall into the no/occasional contraceptive use.

At a 99% reduction, that leaves 6,000 abortions per year.

Not hundreds of thousands at all.

If both men and women used contraceptives, abortion would all but disappear.

I'm still stunned you would claim that an IUD or implant is more invasive than a procedure where they shove a serrated tong inside you and rip your unborn child out in chunks.

Seriously? Barefoot, pregnant, in the kitchen...did I miss something? Oh, yes, legs up whenever the man in the house wants his own pleasure. Women, of course, are not allowed to seek pleasure, only duty. Got it.

Really? How exactly are two million men in prison helping single mothers to raise two million (or more) fatherless children?

Agree about equal burden, however the burden can't be equal until after birth, and not even then because breast feeding.

I disagree. I have the fundamental right to care, talk about what I care about, and tell people from other countries what I think about their countries.

You can care all you like, but politically, your caring lands on deaf ears. But as a consolation prize, you can earn "LIKES" on foreign websites

The high number of women who use contraceptive methods, even among the religious, proves that women are not interested in your barefoot-pregnant-kitchen-no-pleasure approach.

A subdermal implant is a foreign body that releases a foreign substance into the blood stream. It's invasive.

Ever heard of medication abortion? Surgery is not always required.

I saw this last week and started laughing out loud. I don't know if these folks understand that with their "protest" they are doing exactly what the ones they are mad at have wanted them to do all along lol...

Here's the deal! Either you codify Roe v Wade or we will stop having casual sex with random people!!

Conservatives are like umm....your terms are acceptable lol...

    Don't change the subject.

We're not talking about contraception, we're talking about abortion.

Sure. A sub dermal implant is an invasive procedure.....compared to an abortion.

    There's a great argument.

Now you're starting to go off the rails with emotional nonsense and strawmen.

I didn't suggest it helped, I just suggested there were consequences on both sides already.

Oh the burden is very equal. Try going from being financially responsible for one life to three.

Your source is about unintended pregnancies - 3.100,000 per year - not abortions. 5% of all unintended pregnancies, representing women who use contraceptives all the time - is 155,000. Women who don't use contraceptives at all account for slightly more than half of all unintended pregnancies, not 95%.

Which doesn't matter unless you're saying a large number of people with intentional pregnancies are getting abortions.

No. It means that even constant use of contraceptives doesn't guarantee zero unintended pregnancies.

    No one said it did.

However, there are still only 5% having unintended pregnancies that SAY they are consistently using contraceptives.

Some of that 5% might not be honest about it, some of them are using things with high failure rates like condoms, withdrawal, timing, etc.

    https://www.guttmacher.org/fact-sheet/contraceptive-method-use-united-states

When both people are using effective birth control, the risk of pregnancy is as close to zero as you can get.

Combine that with day after pills and the risk of pregnancy is right up there with immaculate conception.
