Abortion can be outlawed by federal statute. When you can't stop abortion at the state level, you'll try to outlaw it across the country. At that point, states will refuse to help enforce federal law. You aren't going to get away with oppressing women.

Two you might consider reading are The Bill Of Rights by Akhil Reed Amar in 1998 and James Madison and the future of Limited Government, from The Cato Institute in 2002. In short, you don't understand the most basic principle that we created the government, it did not create us. Under our scheme, the government was granted by us certain powers. They are enumerated in the document, and are finite. We the people, on the other hand, have rights. We have rights, the government has powers. A short question for you, hoping for an honest answer--do you or I or anybody else have the right to take homeopathic supplements? No such right will be found in the Constitution, so in your mind does it exist? As we speak, certain elements of the FDA are trying to remove homeopathic substances from public access.
