I was reading some somewhat dubious articles (or perhaps watching YouTube videos), but they were talking about how when we sleep, it seems like our brain changes its quantum state like it's viewing reality, and perhaps when we dream, we're creating reality, or perhaps we're entering an alternate reality. So, I was lying in bed, in the dark, eyes closed, and I was wondering if I was entering a superposition of states similar to the Schrodinger's cat thought experiment. But then I realized that photons could pass through eyelids so that I would be collapsing the wavefunction/creating reality in this universe, even when I'm sleeping. It's a quantum mechanics thing. If you don't believe me, then close your eyes and look in the general direction of the sun. You'll see red. That's because the light (photons) from the sun are passing through your eyelid. So, we're always an observer of photons and collapsing the wavefunction. That means we're creating reality in the universe even when our eyes are closed in the dark. (That's because there are photons coming from other sources in addition to the sun.) So, long story short (too late!) we can't stop creating this universe when we sleep in the dark, we can't enter a superposition when we sleep, and it's a quantum thing.
Also, I think we have to be careful about those in the woo woo category who like to attach their spiritual views to stuff like theoretical physics and quantum mechanics. Not doubting your experience, of course.
so tempting though, to unleash the woo woo.... I like most of your posts and ideas though, so I’ll restrain myself, this time... lol
Here you go. A movie all about your idea. It is the entire movie. Low budget but a great story and one of my favorites.
Holy cow! There is another version of it I had never heard about. Made in 2002, James Caan, Lukas Haas, and Lisa Bonet. They deleted some of my favorites parts of the story but I will have to give it a go. The other version was very low budget and produced for PBS. This had some money behind it. .
