Homeschooling Is on the Rise Throughout the Country. Education Expert Jill Simonian Says It May Be

WASHINGTON, DC, July 22 — The numbers of parents opting to homeschool their kids is on the rise in the U.S. for a variety of reasons, not the least of which is to provide religious or moral instruction. The Census Bureau reports that in the spring prior to the onset of the pandemic about 3% of children were being homeschooled, by the fall the numbers rose to 11.1%, and as COVID self-isolation routines began to be relaxed, the rate of homeschooling has remained at high levels.

Aiding the movement are a growing number of online resources such as PragerU Resources for Educators & Parents (PREP) and PragerU Kids whose Director of Outreach, Jill Simonian, says part of the reason homeschooling is on the rise is the Leftist political motivations of teachers and school officials. As she told Rebecca Weber, CEO of the Association of Mature American Citizens, during a recent interview for AMAC’s Better for America podcast, “our education system is being overtaken by Marxism and socialist movements.” …

The pandemic let lots of parents see what their kids were being taught first hand. Parents are now fighting to take back our schools along their case to school boards. Now when that doesn’t work we don’t meekly submit and take it, we pull our kids out and home school them individually or with the help of a co op and or on line resources.

 

In addition to teaching religious and moral values to our kids we can also assure a 1776 history, and no cancel culture or woke guilt. These are kids the liberal elites won’t get to influence in their formative years.

 

Because parents are somehow unable to influence their own kids? Parents should be engaged in their kids lives especially during the formative years. To blame teachers for how kids turn out is asinine. How about taking personal responsibility???

The state does not want or allow this. If you wish for parents to be responsible you must support ending the mandated state parenting of students. Repeal and ban all truancy laws which remove responsibility, influence and parental control of kids.

The state mandates that they will be the parent and parents have no rights then people complain about parents not being involved.

 

Teachers are too blame if they teach falsehoods and that's the major issue with pubic school today.

Teaching falsehoods isn't teaching it's unteaching. So they aren't really schools any more.

More and more people should teach their own kids.

When teachers have kids 7 hrs a day 5 days a week and the President says the kids belong to the teachers not the parents those hours, we know we have a fight on our hands. If we can’t direct what our kids get taught in the schools we pull our kids out of them and direct it ourselves.

Bullshit! My grandson is in school in a blue district in a blue State and his mom and dad are extremely involved in his education. His school is very proactive in communicating his curriculum and progress. They know his assignments, what they are, when they're due and how he does. He's a straight A student because his mother knows everything in real time. Poor kid can't step on a crack and get away with it. His goal is West Point or Annapolis, and I have no doubt he will achieve it.

Children with the worst home environments and poorest households will be the most disadvantaged if you succeed in abolishing them. -sad

They have not been in place forever and they are not succesful regardless of how long they have been in place. All children will be better off if such laws are abolished as those laws create more problems than they solve. The state does not give a flying **** about kids or their education. Parents do.

I'm not weeping, like everything "rightie" you've twisted his words and expanded them into things he never said.

I'm not saying there is nothing that would raise an eyebrow. But also your RW spin has given his words the worst possible interpretation.

I would like better clarification, that isn't ever coming from your sites. Objectively he could mean "that when these children are in your charge love them and nurture them as though they were your own ""because they are the kite strings that lift our nation".

Your extreme RW interpretation is as or more damaging to our Nation as anything President Biden could say.

 

Really don't care if people do it or not, but buyer beware. Sure there might be some kid who starts MIT at 12 who was homeschooled, but it seems to me that most of the kids I have met who were home-schooled are only slightly more functional than those who went to high dollar Montessori schools. Neither group seems to function well around groups of normal everyday people their own age.

 

How is it my kids know there are only two genders and that someone born male can’t become a woman? Oh right, my wife and I did our jobs as parents.

 

There are MANY good careing people guiding our education system. I agree MOST parents care deeply about their children and their education but too many children only have the school system to keep them from falling through the cracks and lift them from emotional bankruptcy and literal poverty.

 

I'm not conservative, but I'll answer: yes.

So, why not give them vouchers to attend private or non-profit schools, much like vouchers are given out to purchase food and other sundries? Govenrment-run public schooling is a universal, middle-class welfare program. And it sure wasn't created to help the poor, nor does it do much in that department no matter how much money is thrown at it.

 

They probably do better around people of any age, versus being raised in the one-size-fits-all, segregate-them-by-age and grade-them-like-meat government-run system. Those kids are stunted by years of being told never to question the authority of the administration and to learn what they are told when they are told to learn it. What you consider "normal" is devolved.
