The Constitution does not establish a direct democracy, it establishes a constitutional republic in which representatives are elected by the people, senators were appointed (not elected) by state legislators, and the President was elected by electors who were guided but not required to vote for who the people of their state elected.

Thanks to corruption and ignorance most of those well thought out checks and balances were removed.

Today the USA has the trappings of a democracy, but that’s it. How many incumbents are re-elected? 95%? Even when the people hate the incumbent.

Third party? The D and R have made that nearly impossible.

And when the peoples choice actually wins there is no lasting change because the life long bureaucracy makes sure nothing changes. Who writes these 3,000 page bills? Not congressmen, they don’t even read them.

    Not to mention stealing elections.

    You live a fantasy.

Lol - that is called "representative democracy".

Do I really have to type both words, when the constitution is crystal clear concerning how our democracy works???

Also, your assumption that people hate their representation is total nonsense. The majority of our congressmen are LIKED by their constituents, except in cases where gerrymandering and other assaults on democracy mean that there is unequal representation.

So, you hate Nancy Pelosi - but, I get to vote for her and she represents me, NOT YOU.

I haven't said anything about third parties, so I'm not sure what you are responding to.

During the Obama years, our Democratically controlled House and Senate addressed serious issues such as healthcare and immigration with BIPARTISAN committees who were free to inform the public of progress.

During the years when Republicans had control (during the Trump era) Republicans refused to involve Democrats in ANY SIGNIFICANT ISSUE WHATSOEVER.

So, guess what? You do NOT get to whine about partisanship blocking progress. That is EXACTLY the way Republicans have designed their methodology whenever they get the chance.

It's no wonder that our past Republican congress made NO PROGRESS of any kind.

So clearly, YOU are the one living in a fantasy land, and that is only confirmed with your total crap about stolen elections.

If you had evidence, you would show it rather than hope someone believes you.

Prove anything I've said wrong. That'll require posting evidence.

How much if that info have you actually read in full context?

Taking anything a Neocon tells you about anything Trump is the moral equivalent of paying to be lied to.

Second sentence, "bait" so dismissed for desperation :). First sentence, a really bad straw man, IOW, that doge you are using just won't hunt! I could do the rabbit hole analogy but that hole is already "occupado" by you! :)

You most certainly missed the part where you're wrong. The United States isn't a democracy.

Feel free to show us where the Constitution says The United States is a democracy. Also, show us where the Constitution says that the majority rules.

Our founders created a government that IS a representative democracy - not just one that claims to be.

You can see that clearly by simply reading our constitution.

In fact, you don't even have to read very far, as it is spelled out in Article I.

I still think this moronic 'Jan 6' thing was a lot more like Hitler's 'Beer Hall Putsch' than it was about some hooptie-doo "insurrection".

If you've ever been in a country where the **** really DID hit the fan, and there's platoons of military personnel 'dressed to kill', holding city streets in metro areas, you can tell the differences very quickly....

You really needed to be TOLD that we're a democracy when the constitution goes to great lengths in describing how our democracy works?

Being a republic just means that states have the power to make their own decisions on a lot of issues.

Even there, every one of our states makes its decisions as a representative democracy!!

Had the January 6 assault on our democracy succeeded, there would have been NO law or policy on what would have come next.

One must assume the VP would have been assassinated as was their stated objective, and seems likely since he was in the same room as the ballot information.

Trump would have clearly remained president beyond the end of his term in office. And, he would have had arguable justification for declaring emergency powers.

What do you think Trump would have decided to do at that point?

Do you really think he would have said, "Gee, here's your presidency back. Sorry about the hooptie-doo."

You're destined to be the next Tom Clancy with an imagination like THAT!

Start with the premise that Trump's the reincarnation of old Adolf and your fortune is made... you'll be on the New York Times best-seller list in no time!

Uh-huh, sure.... And, in turn, I'll ask you one -- shortly after Biden became inaugurated as president, it became more and more obvious that his mentality had sunk to dangerously unstable levels. Would he have gone before the American people and said, "Well, look... I can't tell people who are alive from people who are dead anymore, and I'm not even sure what the hell I'm signing when they put stuff out on my desk. I'm not even sure what century we're living in, either, so, in the best interests of the country, I'm going to step down now...." ?

See how 'tricksy' it can be about hypotheticals...? :nana:
