I think income inequality is one of the highest drivers of destroying prosperity — especially when it is a handful of people vacuuming up massive amounts of wealth. The middle class is shouldering the burden for the poor and the super wealthy.

 

Income inequality can be healthy and good for society. I grew up poor and saw other families living in homes with a pool, driving nice cars, wearing nice clothes, and having fun toys. That made me ambitious. I learned skills that made an hour of my time worth more pay.

When government places their thumb on the scale and tries to "fix" things, they end up making it worse. I live in Los Angeles and I think we lead the nation in income inequality. (Or at least rank with the highest) There are few left in the middle.

The quickest and easiest way to get rich is support a candidate and get a no-bid government contract in return. I believe this is the root of the problem.

 

Income inequality is going to exist — and isn’t inherently bad — the issue becomes when an entity becomes so large that no one can compete. Look at Amazon and Walmart, both have been shown to have closed thousands of small businesses.

Amazon and Walmart wield tremendous political power. Small businesses don't have a $10,660,000.00 lobbying budget. Even those small businesses that held on couldn't survive Covid. Walmart was exempt from the shutdowns.

To answer your question, government involvement should be limited to a minimum to ensure a safe work environment. All contact between politicians and lobbyists need to be live streamed and recorded. No government employee should ever receive benefits uncommon in the private sector. (For starters)

And coming from a pretty small town, those small businesses here had it coming! No competition, made tyrants of those so called "Home town businesses".. Walmart simply made things competitive and those small businesses that folded, got what they deserved!

Why is the DOJ *****footing around? Is this going to go on for a few years? They have enough evidence to charge Trump with several crimes. The DOJ should simply indict the S.O.B. and haul him before a judge.

Until around the 1990's, the tv was called the "boob tube" (and not those boobs), and it was common to hear "it will rot your brain". Instead of watching tv all the time - or staring at You Tube and FaceBook and TikTok - we read books and studied and had hobbies that developed skills.
