I was specifically addressing the use of nuclear weapons but I suggest you read the history of WWII and you will be enlightened that it was that hated Democrat Truman who gave the order to use nuclear weapons to end the war. Remember that it was FDR who as the isolationists Republicans blame for getting us into WWII. Remember if you are old enough that some Republicans often accuse the Democrats start “all” wars. They site JFK and LBJ as starting the Vietnam war. I was using stealth sarcasm when I accused our Democratic friends of being anti war weenies.
So since we cannot have it both ways what is your favorite accusation? Are the Democrats War Weenies or Anti War “weenies”??

The pro Russian traitors and Russians sent into Ukraine by Russia started the shelling and they killed “ their own” pro Russian friends along with good Ukrainians. Other pro Russians were killed by “friendly fire” and as collateral damage.

It's worth mentioning that the population of the NATO countries in 2022 is estimated to be 950 million. The population of the Russian Federation is estimated to be, at most, 150 million. The 10 largest cities in Russia have a combined population of less than 30 million. The populations of New York City, London, and Paris alone are close to 40 million. Perhaps the moniker of "Dwarfistan" is more accurate than first thought, even though the land mass of the Russian Federation covers no less than 11 time zones!

Afterthought: China, with a population estimated yesterday at 1.45 billion, has been looking at the vast expanse of Siberia with its incalculable wealth of natural resources for many years... "and nature abhors a vacuum"...(Aristotle)

The origin of the war is in the US who organized the coup in Kiev in 2014 and brought to the stage pro-US and anti-Russian politicians who started the war in Donbass. It was Pornoshenko, who said that the kids in Donbass would sit in the cellars instead of going to schools. It was Pornoshenko who stopped paying pensions to local retired people. All together that inspired the separatist movement which was supported by Russia.

 

But everyone worth nuking - the vast majority of that 150 million - is concentrated in an area comparable to the continental US west of the Mississippi River. Small enough area to make all the rubble bounce and glow in the dark, multiple times over, with 1,000 warheads in reserve. Just in case.

It would not surprise me if Sleepy Joe gave him his own nukes. If he doesn't, the Straussians that run the State Department and the Pentagon might.

You make an excellent point -- indeed, if we 'took-out' Moscow, St. Petersburg, and maybe two or three more Russian cities, the country couldn't even functionally exist as a "Russian Federation" anymore.

By contrast, Putin could destroy twice that many metro areas in 'the West' and the NATO countries would still annihilate Russia, reducing it to a scatter of minor 'city-states' of no particular importance, far from any warm-water ports (except Vladivostok way over on the Pacific), and very far from each other! We in 'the West' would be very badly hurt, but we would survive -- while Russia would cease even to exist.

If Putin really does love his 'Mother Russia', the precious "Rodina", as much as many of us believe he does, he must find a way to end hostilities immediately. Everybody needs to stop fighting, and then sit down and come up with a brand-new "Minsk Agreement" that everyone involved in WILL ACTUALLY ENFORCE! Otherwise, whatever else happens, Russia will die....

There was no coup in Kiyiv. The war in the Donbas was started by the Russians in conjunction with the invasion of the Krym. It was all Putin’s plans to start the war in the Donbas and invade the Krym in order to destabilize Ukraine. All part of Putin’s desire to return-establish the Soviet empire.
The demonstrations in the Maidan were because Yanukovich was moving to join the Russian economic and “security “ space instead of the EU. Basically Ukrainianians chose freedom over slavery as Lukashenko chose for the people of Belarus. Putin started the war in the Donbas and invaded the Krym not Poroshenko who had no interest in starting a war anywhere. Most people do not know or do not care that Ukraine leased the naval base in Sevastopyl in exchange for gas from Russia.

 

No coup? How do you name then the change of the leader of the country with force? Of course it was. First was a coup, then separatism supported by Putin came to Donbass. Not vice versa. I agree that Poroshenko was not interested in war in Ukraine. It was the US that was interested in the destabilized region near Russia. US is known to organize such coups all over the world. To name a few: Honduras, Lebanon, Iraq, Georgia etc.
