For years and years, I have watched the media work hard to pick our candidates for office, as well as trying to pick the candidates to run for office. What we're seeing now, months and months before our next presidential election, is the media putting Florida Governor Ron DeSantis front and center as a presidential candidate, yet DeSantis has not declared. The media doesn't want DeSantis to be elected the next president, but they want him to push Donald Trump aside. Thus, Trump is getting unfavorable coverage while DeSantis is getting favorable. It's the media's MO. Then whomever DeSantis runs against the media will work hard to elect DeSantis' rival. I'm not sure they have presently decided on who they want for our next (democrat) president. But rest assured they will run with any bad press for the republican presidential candidate while giving favorable coverage for the democrat candidate. Plus, just before the general election the media will editorially recommend the democrat.

The MSM will demonize Desantis like they did Trump.... God could run and they would find something to go after him about...

It was said the MSM was going to demonize santis and the op is about the media.

I am sorry if that was too complex a thought.

Well ya. Most of the media is owned via interlocking directorate by the same corporations, NGOs and 'nonprofit's that run the govt via lobbying a campaign donations.

    Undoubtedly. Why wouldn't it?

I assume you mean Fox News, which is owned by 21st Century Fox, which is owned by Walt Disney, which is owned by Vanguard, which has a controlling interest in, well, almost everything, including AT&T, which owns Time Warner and Warner Bros, which owns Turner Broadcasting which owns CNN.

NBC is similarly traced to ultimate Vanguard controlling interest through comcast.

Vanguard is technically owned by 30 million investors. Though its certainly guided by the top few %.

No, I have a low opinion of the American media. I worked with them all my adult life and most are as phony as a three dollar bill. They are not objective as they claim and too often they inject themselves into a story. They see themselves as the elite, a cut above the very people they claim to help, mostly associate with other media types, and they love to talk about how well they report the news. Objective they are not and that was the point in my OP.

So you are saying that your candidates need the help of these people or at least silence from these people to have a better chance of being successful?

No I think you are really saying you don't like what they have to say.

Intelligent folks comprehend the select words the media uses and see the media for what they are. Remember the media makes their living from words and they are good at that trade. While their news reporting seems objective it carries adjectives and subtle opinions to slant the news to the media's way of thinking. That way of thinking is usually liberal and helps democrats. Do you deny that?

No. Actually I agree with most of what you say above and would add conservative media does the exact same thing except perhaps less subtilly.
I also think that many of elections were decided by the quality if the candidate. This applies to the Republican Party in many places and the Democratic Party in Florida.

Yes, I agree, Trump's and DeSantis' futures are entirely in the hands of Fox News. If Fox News rallies again behind Trump, as they did after 1/6, he'll be the 2024 GOP candidate, and DeSantis will have to postpone his aspirations to 2028. If Fox News decides to finally dump Trump, DeSantis may have a chance in 2024. It's as simple as that.

Many politicians' future is in the hands of the media, not just Fox News but also the mainstream media. DeSantis, nor Trump for that matter, have declared. So right now it's all media hype as they attempt to control the outcome.

Tucker will try, as will 99.9% of the media. Tucker will be honest about his preference while the other journalists will tell you they are neutral :roflol:

Trump definitely would not have been president if not for all his media attention.

    You declare it thus!

But in reality it depends on the other 61% of the vote shares. If its divided up into tiny, unaffiliated ~1% bits, then you're prolly right. But that seems unlikely... more likely the Murdoch's have a substantial amount of influence, but other shareholders (either in Fox directly or in its parent companies) have just as much or more.

I'm sure he's fine. Thats not really the concern. Its the rest of us who should be concerned about the vast majority of our news all being supplied by essentially the same sources with different names and different political flavors but by basically the same people. Capitalism without competition is a very dangerous thing...
