I read the description and thought, "This is terrible." I won't be seeing it.

I saw almost all of the first 3 phases in the theater, but I have skipped most of the Phase 4 other than Thor, Dr Strange and Spider-man. Some day will get Disney +

Probably skipping Ant Man 3 too, so maybe GOTG 3 will be the next one I pay $30+ for

Disney did not go heavy promoting it. They knew that they had a bomb with it. Looked bad from the commercials

The Wakanda people have a strong cultural similarity to African cultures.

There are people on this very forum that claims wakanda actually represents African culture. Many don’t acknowledge it as a cultural fantasy that it actually is.

The first film went against black nationalism, so I doubt the second changed that. And similar nonsense claims accompanied the first one. More likely that white nationalists are just repeating their lies and gullible folks are falling for it, just as what happened before.

And two minutes of homework, at most, would have informed you that the Black Panther character predates the black panther group and has nothing to do with it. Why so allergic to homework?

And we have as much reason to care about your post as you do to care about the film. Gratz.

    sooooo
Let’s look at the othe high grossing movies

    https://editorial.rottentomatoes.com/article/highest-grossing-movies-all-time/

Top 20 has a LOT of Marvel films - most of which are mostly representing “white” people and culture. Titanic is a stand out as is the original Star Wars and the latter had more aliens than black people. I have to say I have just finished watching “Miss Marvel” and absolutely loved it! “Brown Girls from Jersey never become the heroines”.

All taxes were paid in gold back then and the entire South was on a Fire Sale.

The kids at school ask me if I'm more into Marvel or DC and my response is "I'm into good stories. If Marvel does it great, if DC does so - also great." If someone is REALLY into superhero movies and is a DC or Marvel-only fan, I'll ask them if they enjoyed Catwoman or the 2015 Fantastic Four movie. That usually gets my point across.

As far as THIS movie - I thought it was okay, but not great. I mean, I don't feel like I wasted my money and I'm happy it made a profit since I have shares in Disney but - I dunno. I guess I was hoping for
Dr. Doom to be introduced in the post-credit scenes - he wasn't.

There's something else that's - it's not exactly up to the level of annoying me but - The Sub-Mariner. I mean, I get what they were trying to do with him by doing a culture-shift from Atlantis to Sorta-Mayan - but when you even change what his name means - "Namor" is supposed to mean "Avenging Son" and now it's "The Boy Without Love" - huh? I guess I'm trying to say that while they meant well, the character drifted so far away from who Subby has been since 1939 that they might as well have created a whole new character and run with that. I thought the actor portraying him did great though. Even got the ankle-wings on and at least got his battle-cry right. I'm not sure what Will Everett, his creator, would think of him now. Also, looks like there's no way Marvel can do an Invaders tie-in at this point - but that's a topic for another day. Roy Thomas might have been a bit crestfallen here.

Being top seller on a dumpster fire isn't much of an honor. Since covid, movie attendance has been in the toilet.

I don't care for all of the commercials on TV. They talk about how wonderful Wakanda is and how technologically superior Wakanda is to the rest of the world and use it to promote "black culture". The whole story is still fiction. If it inspires a kid to study, that's great, but targeting the movie toward black people and equating the fictional movie with black culture is tone deaf if not a little racist. It's a bunch of wokeness and I'm no longer interested.

After End Game I'm done with the Marvel Universe. It's too much of an investment to keep up with all of the story lines.

    Yes, it was the Vibranium.

Basically, if the Vibranium meteor never hit ancient Wakanda, it would likely be a part of Ethiopia.

Don’t know why you would play me that song. I’m actually quite content in my choice and feel no sorrows about it.

This thread should be titled “Liberals believe that fictional wakanda represents factual African culture”

Nope, but I’m still going to point out the complete false hood of that claim
