That’s an excellent place for this pos. This should be the result of every one of these cowardly attacks.

Bet he's out in a few months.

Anybody of the leftist political persuasion want to advance the oft heard comment that minorities can't be racist?

I doubt he'll do the entire time if he behaves himself, but hopefully it's enough to deter this type of behavior, which to me is about as bad as it can be.
I think that the "woke" thing should be separated from the treatment of criminals. There probably is some correlation between racism and criminal activity, but criminals who are violent toward anyone in society need to be removed from said society.
I had an friendly argument with a black friend about the highlighted in red part. Racism can be found in all races, imo.

How on earth would he be out in a couple months? What legal process exists for what would be a 99.5% reduction in sentence?

If Democrats can send mass shooters back to work with an ankle bracelet they can make it happen.

I'm pretty sure someone that attacks a random old, tiny woman and punches them 100 times isn't really capable of learning anything. What's worse is this latest act is just the natural progression of the horrible things he's already gotten away with.

At least we can agree on criminals and racism, even if we don't agree on anything else.

The only thing that should matter is the behavior of a person.

    The sentence wasn't long enough.

How come CNN didn't go into the reasons why this thug beat this woman or follow up with how many similar beatings have taken place across the country?

I am not sure that is real. I am not ware of one party or another having some ability to circumvent the legal system.

I believe that it's a proper sentence. However, I don't agree that this sentence be because of a hate crime. Any similar crime should be treated the same. 100 punches to the face hurts as bad if they hate you or don't.

If he really had to serve 17.5 years that would be a lot when the victim didn't die or even suffer permanent damage as far as I saw (not sure). I don't believe in hate crime laws. Prison time for years though? Yes, that's appropriate, but I think there should be emphasis on restitution and rehabilitation.

You're not aware of all the DA's like Gascon in CA not prosecuting people?

Felons with firearms are caught all the time. They're plead out and put right back on the streets all the time. Chicago is notorious for this.

Don't remember the case a few years back where the illegal alien stole a gun from a cop in CA, shot a woman, and was found not guilty?

    Happens all the time.

Criminals commit crime because they're not afraid of the consequences.

Given the nature of his crime, while in prison, he will need to grow eyes in the back of his head. The prisoners there won't take too kindly to that type of assault and he will be targeted, even by the "black" prison gangs in any of the NY state prisons.

I think the sentence was appropriate.

So this fellow, who committed a terrible crime and was sentenced, is not going to be prosecuted? Or he is going to "plead out" after being sentenced?

They had to prosecute this one. It got out and had plenty of play.

Stuff like this happens every day off camera in NYC.

So he was prosecuted and sentenced? There seems to be a large disparity in your claims in alternating posts.

The only disparity here is you being intentionally obtuse.

I guess if one piece of garbage gets prosecuted the other ones, and the norm, doesn't matter to you.

Well, I am not sure it is the norm. I think that is a subjective claim that is not supported by statistical analysis.

Okay, the first link is an article about a person on house arrest going through the legal process. the second link is a person who did post bail and violated the terms of that bail. He will have another bail hearing and that bail money will be up or he may be remanded. But he is also a kid being tried as an adult. Even in Texas, conservative judges are not that harsh here. Both of these are "white guys" who come from stable homes while the kid is accused of terrible things.

The illegal alien who stole the firearm and killed Kate Steinle on a California peer. Yes, he was tried but was acquitted on all charges by a jury. The system worked because there was enough reasonable doubt and the prosecution, under pressure from Trump, rushed to convict and try him. This case was controversial because the defendant was an illegal. However, if it was any other person, a USC or even an LPR, he probably would not have made the national news at all.

All of which disproves your claim of not being afraid of the consequences. Most crimes are of opportunity, especially in Chicago with all the gang gun killings done on the SE Side of Chicago and the public not cooperating with police. People who snitch there are also killed btw.

there is something called the 8th amendment, but each state sets the standards and procedures for bail on all crimes. Unless you work or have knowledge of the system, as The Mello Guy does, then you will need to come up with something better than what you are doing.

Drug deals are by definition an opportunity. Robberies are too. Here where I live, there is a string of robberies taking place right now with attacks on SE Asian women with their purses and jewelry being taken. Then you have those who will steal your boxes on your front porch, or the Christmas bags that you just sat next to you, and a whole host of other opportunities. It explains why it happens, but not condones it. Learn the difference.

Says the people that don't start screeching about some right wing hate speech leading to a most recent shooting.....only to find out a gay person did it.

Oh I see. In your legal opinion the public safety exemption isn't a consideration when dealing with mass shooters.

    There's a brilliant argument.

Two, I have reviewed my posts here and I never said anything like you allege, nor did I participate in any thread on such a topic.
