Gavin Newsom's reparations committee will recommend handing out $223,200 per person to all descendants of slaves in California for 'housing discrimination' at a cost of $559BN - in nation's biggest restitution effort ever

    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...ommend-handing-223-200-descendant-slaves.html

Well, here we go into another round of California’s destructive insanity. People thinking about moving have another BIG reason to move: obviously taxes will be going up. Businesses holding on because of the proximity to Silicon Valley probably will settle for decals on a glass door and call forwarding to Texas.
Presumably the state will levy asset taxes by race, because you can’t credit/debit black people and screw them again.
Then come the Indians. We gotta get off their lawn, too. Presumably we are all moving back to Europe. Cool. Northern California is too damn hot anyway. Are the newly flush blacks going back to Africa or Europe?

This is another money grabbing fantasy like Green Pick Pocketing, and the EV mandate. If I didn’t think these people were simply delusional I would not worry. These fools are serious.

Fun fact: California never had slaves, but what the hey!

    The math is flawless.

HALF A TRILLION DOLLARS: Gavin Newsom’s reparations committee will recommend handing out $223,200 per person to all descendants of slaves in California for ‘housing discrimination’ at a cost of $559BN – in nation’s biggest restitution effort ever.

'The median wealth of Black households in the US is $24,100, compared with $188,200 for white households, according to the most recent Federal Reserve Board Survey of Consumer Finances'

    Assuming a household is 3 persons, that's $669,600.
    $24,100 + $669,600 = $188,200 - all day!

“Median wealth” in black households is hard to compute due to poor single women with children, and poor single men living as “individuals”.
I don’t disagree that they need money, but being “the lucky generation” is not the way to achieve it.

I wouldn't be surprised at all to find that you could replicate the same data by comparing married parent households to single parent households with no reference to race. Greasy Gavin isn't interested in truth or fairness, he's vote buying for a future presidential run.

Ironic that reparations for slavery means depriving people of the fruits of their own labor.

On first reading the article appears to be from the journalism school of inflame rather than inform it’s audience. Either the writer is flaming idiot or he’s wittingly conflating issues. Unfortunately it’s likely both given the “paper”.

Don’t waste your time with this nonsense.

My ancestry is now non binary and today I identify as a descendant of black slaves. That’s how this works, right? So where’s my check?

Newsom and his CA pals are loons. There are people suffering in CA right now and what is he doing for them? Some of those people are the homeless, some are crime victims, others are illegal alien women and children being sold into sexual slavery and they do nothing.

The descendants of slavery were not harmed in the least and are owed nothing from the people who did nothing to them.

BTW, if CA gives out housing grants, you watch how fast homes and rents shoot up.

What a magnificently terrible idea for the state of CA. to punish today's taxpayers who had nothing to do with slavery.

I hope they go for it. Come on California, if you don't approve this plan as is, you're racist!

You're jumping the gun, with your judgements:

    <Snip>
    However,
discussions are still underway, and the panel is continuing to consider how payments should be made - some suggested tuition and housing grants while others proposed cash.

The task force has also identified four other causes for reparations: Mass incarceration, unjust property seizures, devaluation of Black businesses and health care.

It has until June 2023 to submit its final recommendations to the Legislature.
    <End>

If it were decided to give straight cash payments, I would think of that as a mistake; however, I think it more probable that they will go the way of tuition & housing grants, and the like, in accord with what I've been saying, from the time the Committee was first formed.

200K is still not enough to buy the most expensive Air Jordans
    Just sayin

    1. Air Jordan 1 Chicago Dunk Sole – $1,012,500
In addition to the ankle strap modifications Nike made to the Air Jordan 1 following Michael Jordan’s foot injury in the fall of 1985, they also began experimenting with different soles on the Air Jordan 1 to see what MJ performed best in. One of those modifications resulted in an Air Jordan 1 with the sole of a Nike Dunk. Only a few prototypes were made, and one of them was auctioned off in February of 2022 for a whopping price of $1,012,500, becoming the most expensive Air Jordan in history and the first Air Jordan to break the million-dollar mark.

The great enigma, is that even though everything about 'reparations' for slavery that ended in this country 157 years ago is despicably wrong, conniving Democrat politicians like Gavin Newsom get elected, over and over. How does this happen? Are there really THAT many people in California who are America-hating crudballs living on welfare-suck...? :spin:

Doesn't matter, I'm not interested in squeezing people that are alive NOW for things that happened 100s of years ago that were done by OTHER people

Iknow a person who's great grandfather was one of the biggest slavers in the Caribbean. He lives with his family in a 20 bed mansion with several thousand acres. Pretty sure he has a couple more estates across the south of England.

All of this wealth the man has was because his great grandad owned thousands of slaves on his plantation and walked away with a massive fortune, paid to him by the taxpayer in the slaver Compensation bill of 1837.

I've been paying for this guy and his family to live a life of luxury all my life, as have 60 million of poor sods. We just paid the last installment in 2015 to this wicked devil.

    Just saying.

Serious question here, very serious. Can a person identify as a descendant of a black slave and not have it questioned the same way Bruce Jenner can identify as a woman and not have it questioned? If not, why?

Hi Lil Mike. Remember when you said reparations would never be paid to the descendants of African slaves?
When I get my reparations money, I will take you out to a nice lunch. :hungry:
