Santos in federal custody as feds unseal 13-count indictment

So they finally unsealed the indictment.

It's got:

Wire fraud
Money Laundering
Theft of public funds
False statements to Congress

To name a few.

The Justice Department on Wednesday unsealed federal charges against Rep. George Santos and the New York Republican is in custody.

Santos, whose astonishing pattern of lies and fabrications stunned even hardened politicos, has been charged on a 13-count indictment, including seven counts of wire fraud, three counts of money laundering, one count of theft of public funds, and two counts of making materially false statements to the House of Representatives.

He was taken into custody in Melville on Long Island, where the FBI is housed, a law enforcement source told CNN. From there, he was taken to the courthouse in Central Islip.

Happens fast when you're not a former president. But it happens!

Seems like I've seen those charges before aimed at a former president; of course for him, tRaitor tRump, many more will be thrown in.

It appears that the Republican Party's not all that good at draining their own swamp. We're lucky in this exceptional country to have a Justice Department to do it for them. They should be grateful for the bail-out.

I hope he serves a ton of time. He's a POS... I also hope that the Democrats can hold this same type of fervor they have for prosecuting Republicans and look at their own corruption. Not holding my breathe on that, however.

One rule of thumb is never to piss off rich donors if you steal from them. I think you will see hard evidence and his statements on TV where he practically said he admitted it and got away with it.

that being said, it will be interesting in what the GOP in the House does next. With a razor-thin majority, it just got a little narrower if Santos is censured or expelled. Yes, innocent until proven guilty and maybe McCarthy could take a page on what the Texas State Legislature did with Slaton.

Cuomo resigned in disgrace and should have been prosecuted for the murder of thousands of elderly due to his horrible COVID practice.
Spitzer resigned in disgrace. Was not prosecuted.
Franken resigned in disgrace. Was never charged with sexual misconduct
Wiener refused to resign. It was only when he was caught trying to noodle a 15 year old and prosecuted that he resigned!

And no way and I saying the Pub's are pristine. There are a few I would like to see behind bars, however, there are ample Democrat politicians that also truly need to be locked up! One is in the white house!

Santos is making up for lost opportunity. Santos even claimed to be Ukrainian Jewish and that his family survived the Holocaust. There is not even a remote fact tying him to Jewish or Ukrainian people or the Holacaust. My guess is that Lying Boy Olympic volleyball hero does not know which continent Ukraine is on. Was he a member of the House LGBTQ-XRHMUPDBCA Caucus? I could swear he said that he was the founder of the House LGBTQ Non Binary Latino Brazilian White Russian caucus.

Sen Bob Menendez (D) didn't resign after being indicted on felony corruption charges and went to trial and iirc: the judge dropped the charges after a hung-jury?

What is hilarious is that Santos is a co-sponsor of a bill to be voted on this week(?) on unemployment fraud and one of his charges is collecting unemployment when employed at that financial investment company he worked for.

It comes down to power, whether the charges are sex or nonsex-related.

As for Sen. Bob Menendez, the case was dropped in 2018 because of the Supreme Court Decision of McDonnell v United States which the Supreme Court greatly narrowed the definition of public corruption. It was the DOJ in 2018 that dropped the case, not the judge.
