Two of the bluest states in the country together can't keep up with a single red state. Granted, we're not looking at numbers up to November, but it's safe to say that two democrat states with double digit unemployment are going to close the gap.

California is spending money hand over fist too. Where's that supposed stimulating effect of government spending?

Excellent news and another reason to celebrate how quickly the US economy rebounded from almost certain recession after and inflationary cycle appeared at the end of the last administration.

Almost all states saw gains with the exception of one of the reddest states in the nation with almost a -7% loss and Rhode Island with a -1% drop

I think it would be interesting to see where this growth is consolidated at in Texas, wouldn’t you @tharock220?

Do you think it is in the very blue cities or the more rural areas of the state?

Thank you Dark Brandon for steering our country away from the recession the GOP desperately wanted!

This. Here is the population growth map (okay, these are projections, but they match trends from 2000 to 2020):

Now, anyone wants to dare to compare this to the map of blue counties in Texas?

BTW: GDP maps follow the same trend.

Biden's inflation has led us into poverty, foreclosures, and inability to realize the American Dream. Isn't that enough for you?

    Oh, really?

"The recent survey claiming you need to be a millionaire to be considered "financially comfortable" in NYC might be starting to make more sense. According to the latest report by the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics, the New York and New Jersey area is witnessing a steep increase in food prices. With a record-high inflation rate of over 9%, it's no surprise.

Following the hike in rent prices in the Big Apple, food prices seem to be the next significant cost increase New Yorkers are contending with. According to the report, food prices rose 9.1% for the year ending in June 2022. At-home food prices increased even more, hitting 10.1%, while away-from-home food prices advanced 7.5%. According to Regional Commissioner William J. Sibley, the increase in food prices can also be attributed to the steeper energy costs, which rose 39.2% over the year.

Looking at Datasembly's Grocery Price Index can give a clearer picture of what food categories increased in price and by how much. Produce, for example, rose by 11.3% in the last year, while beverages witnessed an increase of 9.5%. Snacks, cookies, and chips became even pricier, hitting 11.5% higher prices than last year."

Do you honestly think any state saw a 7% decline in employment over the last year? That happened during COVID and immediately after WW2, and at no time else in history? Please tell me you're joking.

I agree, the unevenness in economic performance is definitely present.

New York has still failed to reach pre-pandemic levels of employment

    As has California
    https://data.bls.gov/timeseries/LASST060000000000005?amp%3bdata_tool=XGtable&output_view=data&include_graphs=true
We managed to pull it off by August 2021

BLS Data tools are great if you can read

It would be crazy given the administration actually expressed frustration over the economic successes in Texas and Florida when searching for an all-encompassing explanation for the data.

This OP makes no sense at all. California and New York beat most red states. California beat ALL red states except for Texas. "can't keep up with a single red state" . . . except California surpassed all but one red state and NY surpassed all but three.

What "economic successes" ? They have a 0% tax rate for business'......

Guess who pays taxes the create/manage/maintain that infrastructure ? Oh yeah, the individuals.....

The best is their new "wind grid" that literally shuts down when its cold and leaves their citizens to their own devices to stay warm

You guys act like all of the infrastructure in the state is somehow free now, when in reality its free to corporations, but the individuals are paying thier fair share

You do realize you're essentially bragging that California had more total jobs growth than North Dakota, right? Think about that for a second and see if your brain kicks in.

I've got to push back a bit here: the wind grid was never the problem. There was an overall infrastructure problem, but it wasn't really an issue with wind.

The state has a 0% tax rate on individuals too son.

Texas produces twice the renewable energy California does, and it took a once in a lifetime Arctic storm to disable our grid. California and New York deal with brownouts every summer.

No. I'm saying California had more total job growth than every state except Texas. Think about for that second and see if your brain kicks in.

No, you're saying California had more total job growth than North Dakota as though that's something to be proud of. Are we supposed to be more surprised at that or that California barely came in ahead of Florida?

again, they leave their citizens to their own devices to stay warm, while taking their tax money, and giving corporations a free ride.......

No, I'm saying California having the second highest job growth in the state is something to be proud of. You are literally claiming that only one state matters and the other 49 states are just pieces of ****. That is literally what you are saying.

Can you name ANY state other than Texas that you are willing to say there is something to be proud about? Obviously not. There's only Texas. Now, I'm a Texan myself, but you are still full of ****.

Also, feel free to explain why you think we should ignore the fact that California is, in fact, doing MORE business than Texas is.

I'm looking at California's other numbers compared to the other states. I'm sorry you can't follow.

Second place here looks terrible if you're California.

This is a thread about how good things are in Texas. Don't get mad that you're missing out on the prosperity. Do something about it.

So you're saying businesses don't make purchases or register vehicles. Okie dokie. I mean surely California doesn't require it's individuals to pay the lion's share of taxes, right?
