It is simple to me, apparently not to you. Statutes don't excuse wrongdoing.

As I have said repeatedly, politics is humanity at its worst.

Yes, I've only been a practicing lawyer for 3 decades; you're obviously more experienced and really know your ****.

Now, perhaps you can explain what your post even means.

Huh? Providing you with the text of the legal basis for the suit "isn't useful in any way"? WTF.

You really are lost in the weeds.

The precedent was set by those 12 cases. Why didn't the judge explain the difference with the Trump ruling? The answer - "GET TRUMPERS".

The judge and the prosecutor should explain what the differences are. The report comes from the Associated Press as referenced by Jeb Bush and Joe Lonsdale. Arthur is ignoring precedent as defined by the Cornell Law School.

What is tragically laughable is the inability of the prosecutor and judge to explain the difference between the Trump ruling and the precedent set by the 12 and only rulings with victims, damages, and large fines. Precedent obviously in meaningless when the true intent is to GET TRUMP.

You know what’s really sad and tragic? You attempting to attack an exceptionally well written and well reasoned decision without reading it or having an understanding of the law or facts.

“The Cornell Law School blahblahblah..” is website, not a a case or legal authority.

What is the difference between the Trump ruling and the precedent set by the 12 and only previous rulings with large fines but with named victims and quantified and proven damages?

Das Capital and Mein Kampf were also well written.

IT ISN'T AN EXCUSE FOR WRONGDOING. Laws are misused regularly and destructively in recent times. It is not OK. PERIOD.

Ah but this case wasn't about justice. It was about politics. That changes everything.

Warren Buffett Exposed The Reason For Trump's Failed Business Ventures Decades Before The Fraud Case — 'Where Did Trump Go Wrong? The Big Problem With Trump Was He Never Went Right'

    Jeannine Mancini
    Thu, Feb 22, 2024, 11:42 AM CST

    ...

“The big problem with Trump was he never went right,” Buffett said, adding that Trump’s strategy of heavily borrowing money to finance acquisitions was flawed from the start.

According to Buffett, Trump managed to secure loans for properties at prices well above their value, creating a significant disparity between his assets’ actual worth and the debt incurred to acquire them.

“He was terrific at borrowing money. If you look at his assets and what he paid for them and what he borrowed to get them, there was never any real equity there,” Buffett said, highlighting the precarious financial foundation on which Trump built his empire.

As he does now in politics, Trump has long been lying, cheating and stealing in business. His being in politics does not make him immune from prosecution.

Just to remind: in the decision made by Judge Engoron, Trump is not allowed to get a loan from any bank that is chartered in the state of New York. Since NY, NY is the financial capital of the USA and arguably of the entire world, almost every bank with any kind of clout at all is chartered in NY. This is going to make it exceedingly difficult for Trump to get a loan from a bank of any reputation.

The Trumpies are both hysterical and delusional if they think that the court doesn’t have ample factual and legal bases for its decision, which they haven’t even read.

Trump, his mentally challenged sons and lackeys engaged in rampant fraud and misrepresentations and got caught many times over. The court applied the law, and determined penalties based on the evidence. Trump’s defenses were all addressed by the court and rejected, because they were illogical and not credible. I can’t take their histrionic arguments seriously because they are not premised on the factual record, and are laughable from a legal perspective.

This is what happens when an autocratic craving cult completely untethers itself from reality.

Seriously. That is exactly what is happening here.

This is the people behind the vendatta taking a crap on your front porch in front of you, then saying- "What you gonna do about it?"

A smart-ass 16 year old kid who thought his age would protect him told my father that once. A second later, he's on the ground with blood gushing out his nose.
This is a similar intentional abuse and provocation. The response will be different, but the message similar.

Doesn’t chartered mean incorporated? Lots of banks do business there but aren’t incorporated there.
So I guess I’m looking for clarification on this.

Yeah. It's "just like that". *rolling eyes*

In the real world, it's a serial liar being held accountable, not some puerile and inapplicable analogy to your father assaulting a mouthy minor.

But they weren't premised on a NY statute, and weren't the result of due process.

Do you guys take a class in how not to draw analogies?

READ THE STATUTE. READ ENGORON'S DECISION.

We did… there was no due process… and the 8 th amendment protects ALL citizens from excessive fines.

Same law. Large fines. First and only 12 required victims and damages. Trump - large fine but no victims and no damages. Why?

Repeat the same nonsense 25 more times. It's still nonsense.
