I'm not about to make comments about a nation thousand miles away from home to explain what Scotish boys ought to be explaining for themselves.

I respect Scotland's desires and abilities, whatever they are, as long as there is protection of the other side's rights to do the same thing, both in a reasonable way.

Would you sever all ties with the UK?
Would you remain part of the Commonwealth?
Would you retain the Queen as the head of state?
Would you retain a westminister style parliment, become semi-presidential or adopt a presidential system?

I think Scotland should be independant if a majority of scotish people want to be.

that my ancestry was Irish, English and Italian. Given that Belfast is no longer a part of "Northern Ireland", I would say good luck. Evidently, my ancestry is English and Italian now. Scotland would need a revolutionary group far more radical than the IRA to get the UK to allow secession.

I guess I just dont see the point...they have democratic representation right?

I dont think that ego alone is reason enough to secede from your parent nation. I think there has to be actual oppression of some kind. And I dont see that they are being oppressed.

Scotland has spent too long sucking on England's mammary appendages to stop now. They have some token independence now and that should suffice them. The only way I can see that changing is if the stupid English completely trash the economy in a way that particularily harms Scotland: at that point Scotland would have a valid reason to leave town.

Or was that movie a false story-line.?

Now, I'm no brit but I do live in Scotland.

As I hear it, not even the Scottish National Party want independence from the UK at the moment, all they want is more freedom, not total. The SNP has been in charge for a while and they're pretty much got the freedom they wanted.

Then again, every time the cons win an election in the UK, such as now, more people want to be independent, since thousands of jobs go lost in Scotland from the con's politic.

Yes, Scotland should escape the UK union as soon as possible and preferably before we lose the fighter jets.. Scotland will be unprotected and unemployed and that is how the Tories like it.

Jobs are moving south every day without public awareness, the English are looking after their own and abusing authority now the chips are down. By the end of the current fiasco, there will hardly be a government employee left in Scotland, but there will be hordes languishing down in England while people gibber on about how we are a drain on their chaotic economy, regardless of oil and while they're drawing multiple huge and unjustifiable salaries from the public funds.

As for this thread, the majority of comments indicate people have no clue about the political reality here and that is always the way. Most threads like this involve a fair amount of non-UK nationals being unhappy about any threat to dissolution of the UK. Ask which countries the UK is comprised of and most of them don't even know that. :omg:

Maybe there can be a Dance-Off on English TV and it could win Scotland its final freedom from England.

If they are so bad how come they got voted in? Oh and yes I am interested, I think most are. It's just that we do not here that much about it from both sides of the coin...What are the positions mostly?

If the Scottish people desire independence, then they should have it.

The Scots should be grateful England takes care of them. Sepratism is a cancer. Besides, if the union was so bad, why did Scotland allow it to persist? for 300 years
