I just don't understand why people talk about these things, I mean are that many people really all that badly informed? Is our education system failing so badly that individuals actually believe these things? Please somebody help me to understand.

    Yes, they are.
It's quite simple: The great thing about the internet is having more information out there. The problem is, so many of these people were never educated in how to discern good information from bad.

People who promote "conspiracy theories" don't mind denigrating innocent people as long as they can run around waving their arms in the air and shouting "I know the truth" and "Why don't you listen to me" !!!

"I am today's paranoid youth/unemployed/powerless so I think everyone is against me."

My general take on conspiracy theories is that they would require a government/business that is ALL-powerful to the point of pulling off the conspiracy ... whilst at the same time being so INCOMPETENT as to leave so many supposed "clues" for NON experts and random internet "armchair" detectives to "discover" !!!

Some people are also more likely to "believe" in conspiracy theories if they feel powerless in the face of large social authorities or institutions, disenfranchised or not part of the mainstream of society.

For them disagreeing with the "establishment" is an identity thing, a way of trying to make a difference.

Whether it's effective, or even reasonable, is not of consequence.

For it's easy to make claims against technical and scientific reports based on untutoured appearances !!!

Add a political agenda to add "credence" to your arguments as icing on the cake. (being anti-USA is kinda accepted today).

Then throw in a healthy dose of basic ignorance ... TV and the Internet give TASTES of many experiences ... some people then take that TINY exposure and "assume" they therefore have a real good grip on how these things really work !!!

Some don't recognize the lens/net as distorted, and not all encompassing.

So, now that they "know it all", they can develop various viewpoints and assumptions, and arguments about the subject.

The simple FACT that they really aren't "experts" or even very knowledgable on the subject, doesn't matter.

They saw it on YouTube , Google videos, blogs ... after all !!!

Real knowledge, developed in an education somewhere BEYOND school doesn't count to the shallow thinker and the intricate, detailed knowledge and experience base of the experts is seen as "superfluous" in the argument.

Yet some things require a decent KNOWLEDGE base to even begin to argue against, and many just don't either have that, nor wish to gain it.

Some know little, (if any), and erroneously ASSUME that what they "THINK" or can "SEE" is sufficient.

There seems to be no stigma against blatent ignorance these days.

Most CTers want "truthiness" ... not empirical truth.

    Sad, but true ...

Ultimately, I think they like the feeling of "control" that the conspiracy theory gives them "... Everyone else is fooled, but I "know" the real truth."

And I wouldn't be surprised if resentment and insecurity is at the root of most conspiracy believers !!!

Why does Lady GaGa show up wearing Meat? Why did Brittney shave her head? Why does Lindsay Lohan have curse words on her finger nails? Why does Paris Hilton make sex tapes? Why are there wardrobe malfunctions? Why does Charlie Sheen give interviews where he admits to committing felonies?

    So people talk about them.

Twoofers are no different. Nobody can be that badly informed on facts. So the only other reason is to make waves against what they deem is an unjust society. One of the pressure points on this board is 9/11 so they chose it. Believe me, if nobody commented on their posts, they would never post again. "Getting to the truth" isn't any more important to them than it is that they preapre for a return of scurvy. Getting attetion is job #1 and whatever outrageous thing they have to say to get it; they will say.

You know, South Park had an answer for this. They did an episode on 9/11, at the conclusion of which, they determined that the 9/11 conspiracy theories were themselves a government conspiracy - the government wanted to seem all powerful, so they leak conspiracy theories and run these "movements," when in reality, bad (*)(*)(*)(*) happens and there's nothing they can do to stop it.

Well, there are a lot of people making a lot of money having illegally invaded a sovereign for the first time in history, for example, and it's in their interest to perpetuate the smoke and mirrors thing that is the "official" fable, I mean story.
Let's also not forget, the public is pretty dumbed down. If Fox news said George Bush was a great and super smart President, for example, half the midwest (and the entire south), would believe it.

Those are Obama's words. Obama is NOT Bush, nowhere NEAR Bush on the ideological scale. He ran on a platform of ENDING the wars almost immediately, but suddenly did an about face upon taking office. Why?

Not because he was "bought" or whatever crazy crap people say. But because THE TRUTH is.. that there are lots of dangerous people out there who wish to kill us for many reasons, be they relgious, economic or merely ideological.

Is Obama a liar corporate shill too? Would you believe ANYONE'S word over 9/11 truth bloggers? If you can't believe OBAMA Mr. "RightWingaFraud" WHO WILL YOU BELIEVE??

Yes he did....compliments of Diebold (now known as "Premiere Election Systems"). They needed a name change after the fiasco. Who could blame them?

Of course... I mean, look at how much political capital they got when they planted those WMD's in Iraq! Or "captured" Osama bin Laden's fake double they use for the videos!

LOL... I love that - they murdered 4000 Americans just so they could have a pretense to invade Iraq? Idiotic. Idiotic even if I believe they're 10 times as evil as they are, because if they had done that, don't you think they would have planted a few barrels of mustard gas or something there?

Well, all I can say is, except those hard right wingers, most realize the elections were seriously corrupted. I'd point you to massive voter fraud sources in both of his "elections", but, we all know the futility in that idea.
Besides....voter fraud is for another forum. The deception of 9/11 is the matter at hand.

Oh well, Bush won Ohio twice. Thats all that matters. Just wanted to remind you of that.

And there is no evidence of US Government complicity in 9/11 either. Start as many threads as your obvious abundance of free time will allow. It just takes a few words of truth to render them moot and null.

    Just more battin' practice.

9/11 is not such, as it COULD have been stopped (e.g. don't let people bring weapons onto planes).

hfd ... it all seems to come down to with you, that they failed to respond and cope as "well" as you seem to have expected them too.

That they failed you somehow ... but sorry, incompetence, ineptitude, apathy, inertia and weakness do not equate with complicity to cause !!!

Since when are governments or companies ever pro-active in anything ... they are ALWAYS late to the party and re-active to bad things that happen.

    They fubared ... that's it basically !!!

Yes and they had that 20/20 hindsight by 9/11, after a long history of violent plane hijackings spanning over decades.

It would silly be silly to claim that 9/11 couldn't have been stopped.

I never said this indicated complicity.

Why do you guys always extrapolate WAY beyond what I say?

No doubt they didn't really care.. Don't confuse apathy with inability... The idea that there was "nothing they could do" to stop 9/11 is nonsense.

That was a new height in absurdity.
The last hijacking in the US occurred before most of the fighter pilots were even born. No hard intel of the targets existed regardless of what your twoofer sites tell you. And picking out 4 planes out of 2,000 or so that were airborne that day is next to impossible.

    Think.

It's all part of the Twoofer delusion - The government is all-knowing and all-powerful when it suits them, and completely incompetent when it suits them.

The extrapolation tends more to come from your side, but all this does seem to boil down to be your dissatisfaction with how they performed on your behalf.

For what seriously "could" they really have done to prevent it ... it would be really simple to prevent these things ... people could be forced to strip clothing and change into airline issued cover-alls and placed in seats from which you cannot move from until docking ... there are LOTS and LOTS of things gubmint "could" do ... but would you accept them ???

It is a very fine balance between complete control and personal freedoms and comforts !!!

What personal freedoms and comforts are you willing to forgo to ensure absolute 100% safety ... for example military aircraft in this country have rear-facing seats for passengers ... it is safer ... but commercial ones don't do it because not only do many passengers just do not "like" it, people prefer to face the direction of travel, but there would be cost incurred changing them !!!

    http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article1637270.ece

    http://www.pprune.org/passengers-slf-self-loading-freight/310605-rear-facing-seats.html

    http://forum.keypublishing.co.uk/showthread.php?t=9501

I do get your dislike of HOW they handled this, but that dis-satisfaction does not mean you can interperate their actions as apathetic ... maybe they just WERE the stunned helpless rabbits caught in the headlights ... President or not Bush is still just a man !!!

And positions of power do not somehow magically imbue you with the ability to cope or perform above and beyond the normal range of human emotions.

They failed ... yes, they did ... but you take their inability as apathy ... a reaction which shows "will" or deliberate intent ... whereas, I think they failed just because they were bloodly useless and too full of themselves to even consider they were vulnerable !!!

Funny how a cartoon comedic team can figure out something 'loose changers' can't quite piece together, isn't it?
