These were race conflicts. Americans are able to kill each other about skin color, but revolutions are not their thing.

Volkie, there is hardly "a revolution" going on in Greece, or do you think otherwise?

Race conflict -- indeed. America is still one big race conflict.

Capital is far more unequally distributed in the States.

Who you think is mostly on welfare?

What you think they are going to cut first in the USA?

It's already beginning with the "criminal flash mobs" -- e.g. 40 to 70 people storm a shop and loot it empty.

Grease is th Mini-Me of the USA. Same problem; the people feel entitled to be weathy, spend way more than they need, and nothing to contribute to their society but blame and anger. Only difference is the USA is fatter and less intelligent overall when it comes to education.

Well said. Sometimes the only way to get through to somebody and wake them up is to give them exactly what they want and let them see it for what it really is.

The studies won't be done until after the collapse, that's how it works. By that time a dozen more countries will be collapsing. Go EU!!

Being a millionaire has become a LOT less "wealthy" only in this past generation.

EDIT: shoot even the "average" joe six pick can expect to earn over a million dollars in his career.

That's cruel, these poor people have been programed to be drones, its hardly their fault. Setting them loose is simply un-Marxist, the state must provide, regardless of cost...

Anyone wondering why the Greeks are mad will learn soon enough when this happens in their own country.

Greece has been bought and paid for. Unless Greece goes the way of Egypt, the citizenry will not get their way. Their socialist fun is ending whether they default or accept their annual bailouts. But if they default, at least they won't be slaves to endless debt.

The EU experiment is blowing up. Papering it over with new debt purchases from the US, IMF, and China will only make the contagion more devastating. You can't diversify away from this crap.

What is the difference to the Arab countries? The EU does not support the "rebels"?

The strange thing is, that the less priviledged groups on both sides hate each other most. They don't get it.

What the rest of Europe and by extension the IMF is doing to Greece is akin to America putting Alabama under huge financial burdens because Alabama's economy is not producing to California or New York levels.

If the nation states of Europe are all going to agree to share the same currency (Euro), they then can't turn around and punish the weaker under-preforming economies, not fiscally anyway. If only for the long term stability of the currency.

Only because we import it by the tens of millions.

If you adjust for immigration realities, the numbers would be staggeringly different. We would murder most European nations numbers.

    Maybe.

But why is Alabama's economy is not producing to California or New York levels?

In the case of Greece, it is because everyone in the country is on the public dole and the government cannot collect enough money in taxes to support all their wasteful social programs.

I'm not talking about earnings, I'm talking about net worth. A million is still alot if you have it in the bank.

The Greeks have sucked off other more dynamic Euro countries, and the hog of endless (unpaid for) welfare for far too long .

    Now it's their time:

    - to tighten their belts;
    - pay their proper taxes; and, best of all
    - stop whinging.

Thye can no longer call on the wisdom of Socrates to dig them out their self made hole.

    Not really.

Germany and Ireland have their economic houses in order.

Spain and Greece, the two truly socialist countries in Europe, are the ones in the most trouble.

"Socialists cry "Power to the people", and raise the clenched fist as they say it. We all know what they really mean — power over people, power to the State."

    -- Margaret Thatcher

Socialism is great if you are willing to accept a much reduced standard of living and an oppressive central government who is always telling you what to do and how to live your life to the benefit of the state!

Ireland is almost as big a mess as Spain and Greece.

The Irish just don't riot, they sit in the pub and (female dog) about it.

If Alabama was using membership in the USA to pay its folk vast sums of money borrowed from the USA, you would have a point.

It is not that Greece is not producing at french or German levels but that it is spending at more than those levels.

I did not suggest the correlation was exact, I suggested it is similar. It is not about Greece v Germany, or Alabama v California, economies have peaks and valleys, and while one state or nation has a good year or decade, it is only a matter of time when the situation is reversed. If the EU chooses to go the route they are, the Euro will be a short lived challenger to the USD. Instead of being punitive to Greece the EU should look at the bigger picture of the Euro's long term viability as a world currency, especially with the current USD issues.

Veni-Vidi-Feces, where do you get this stuff?

I know ... you just make it up!

Actually, once again you are very mistaken.

Ireland is doing better than Germany, France or Sweeden.

    Check his out!
