One isolated case. I bet this (*)(*)(*)(*) happens almost every day in towns and cities all across that blighted land.

Again: if things like this happen every day in China, why did the Chinese TV report on it?
Mind you I'd be the first to admit that a lot of things go wrong in China, but maybe you should give your plain xenophobia a little reality check here and there.

Why they didn't help. If you know that you could be sued by the family of the victim, who would blame you for hurting them, you'd be wary too.
People are sick, horrible people to blame their rescuer for their injuries, but it has happened before, and they are simply concerned.

I still have a slight suspicion that the child's gender might of had something to do with things. China has epic rates of female infanticide, do in part to cultural norms concerning marriage, and the one child policy (which isn't absolute btw).

Well, you understand that behavior, but I don't..... if a child is hit by a vehicle, if you don't want to move the child or can't b/c of causing further internal injuries, then you stay w/her and call for help and stay there until help comes ....at least that's what I'd do.....

It's a sick, twisted, screwed-up world out there and getting worse.....

I can understand that behavior, but if it were me, I'd be doing all I could to help that kid. If I walked on by, the guilt would eat me up for years.

If you decide to fly, you allow some idiot to give your little girl a handjob. You people are cowards. Yep ? No.
    Stupid ? Sure.
I have a moron here from Oregan(o) today, with his 14 year old bimbop daughter. She " doesn't like the texture" of scrambled eggs and organic pineapple and mango's are " gross'.

I'm lost on your logic and it's relevance to my post, but you are certainly welcome to expound. At the least, your train of thought is somewhat entertaining.

I'm not sure how valid that is for China, but it is certainly is valid for the U.S. I hadn't thought of that, but you bring up a good point. Law suits, ingratitude and greed.

While China does indeed have a problem with female foeticide (and will run into even bigger problems once today's generation of boys is on the lookout for girl-friends and wives), I don't think even the most patriarchal Chinese mind if other people's one child is a girl.
Plus: it's hard to see on the footage, but unless a toddler is dressed in very gender-specific clothes it's really difficult to spot whether its a boy or a girl. And the people in the footage didn't seem to inspect the child for its gender before they passed it by. They barely looked at it.
Thus I think your suspicion is very far fetched.

Yeah, I'm not going to click that. I read this news this morning already. It's very, very, very sad and sickening.

What I gathered though, is that it upset quite a lot of Chinese people as well.

Still, somewhere the behaviour does not come as a surprise to me. It could have been anyone else really. Male, female, child, adult, rich guy or bum. But the fact that it's a child, makes the impact far bigger than things we've "seen" before. I really wish people wouldn't walk away from their social responsibilities if such a thing happened (child or no child). But where do you start correcting those who walk away when they shouldn't? :/

As I said, a slight suspicion that it might have something to do with things.

No time to assist, they were running late for the Ping Pong tournament at Mao Tse Tung park.
