It just never happens in America in 99% of situations. 99% of people can at least find a family member or friend to live with for a while.

This is after receiving welfare, unemployment and other forms of assistance for quite a while. People can go 2 years plus without even making a house payment.

Very seldom does one actually have to live on the streets.

My opinion is that those involved in the OWS protest are a bunch of misguided morons with no cohesive message. Some are there spewing anti-Semitic hatred. Some are there to smoke pot and/or get drunk. Some are there to pick fights with police and get arrested. The rest have no discernible message or valid argument, unlike the Tea Party which is a true peaceful, grass-roots organization motivated by a single issue (less government intrusion and taxes).

In a free society, you do not have the right to tell me how I should spend my hard-earned money, nor do you have a right to tell me how much money I "need." If I make a lot of money legitimately, and I want to spend $1,000,000 putting solid plantinum rims on my car, rather than giving the money to a charity, then I have a right to do it.

Likewise, in a free society, I do not have have the right to tell YOU how to spend your money. That's the beauty of freedom. If you prefer a fascist socialist nation, perhaps the OWS crowd should move to North Korea or Cuba.

My corporation is a machine. A Machine that spits out money and opportunities. Maybe you should find one with a culture that fits you and join it. You too could be getting money and opportunity.

As opposed to whose fault? Yes, spending money as fast as you make it entails the risk of running out of money if your income is interrupted.

I agree. During the 90's the Libs were trying to float the myth that we were all just a couple of paychecks away from homelessness, regardless of the facts. Statistics of homeless people indicate that far from being hard working people who fell on some hard luck, they are often feckless, mentally ill and wanting to stay that way, on booze or drugs. Alcoholism can make even very successful individuals lose their career, their family, and their home. We need to face the fact that most people who are on the street are there because of their own actions, not because of a gauntlet of misfortune.

Food, Housing, Healthcare and TV aren't luxuries but Human Rights in the United States.

Yachts, Private Jets, Oceanfront property are luxuries that must be sacrificed to provide for our needs.

Many cities are getting tired of the OWS crowed and beginning to kick them out. This is where the violence begins. Somebody is gonna get hurt or killed like I said earlier.

Because Bush's economy was all smoke and mirrors and we're paying for it now. Are you really of the opinion that Bush was any kind of economic hero?

Bush didn't lower deficits. He drastically increased government spending under his tenure, and he over saw a radical corruption of the regulatory agencies that allowed the financial services industry to bring our economy to it's knees.

    No thank you.

I disagree with your assessment, BN. I find it very encouraging that people are finally starting to get mad enough to organize en mass and show their discontent.

I feel that this has changed the debate drastically. The discussion is moving away from "Republicans suck, no Democrats suck" and towards philosophy and a mutual understanding that the system is flawed.

This is an existential fight for the parasitic culture.

We producers can survive without the parasites, but they cannot survive without us.

When I feel the sting, and they get their drop of blood, I just remember that it's still better to be the horse than the fly.

From each according to their ability; to each according to their need
is among the worst ideas in human history.

From each according to their will; to each according to their ability
    is the least worst.

    My opinion of the protestors?

Folks who don't want to work, plain and simple...they don't like the concept of working
    for a living.

I am neither fooled by this young yuppy protest, nor by the Tea Party older yuppy protest.

I belong in the group that will ultimately be condemned, when these two groups collide,or unite, doing the bidding of their handlers, to make the true proletariat, the enemy of the state.

What are you talking about? You crazy emo liberals have zero objectivity or rational thinking abilities. What you call arrogance is a product of achievement and ambition, the future you envision will pretty much suck if everyone is a bunch of lazy half-wits who merely want to exist.

Why do I have to pay for these and others do not? Government sponsored discrimination. Can you give me the password so that the USA government thinks that I am handicapped, Mexican, black or whatever other handicap is necessary so that I don't have to pay my bills?

I can't beleive he mentions television as a human right. Housing and food of some form are human rights:

However, the term "adequate" in this context varies between nations.

DRJ90210 Said: "In a free society, you do not have the right to tell me how I should spend my hard-earned money, nor do you have a right to tell me how much money I "need."

Fair enough! Your hard-earned money is your money and the Government should only tax our money, not because it's "our" money; but because it's not "hard-earned".

However, your comments also speak to a "free society" which brings us back to the "OWS" movement. The issue raised by OWS is not about "rules" as opposed to "no rules". The issue is about, "who writes the rules". As it turns out, Wall Street and their lobbyists are in fact writing the rules! If "no rules" is the measure of a "free society", then, thanks to Wall-Street-written rules, we don't have a "free society".

The OWS movement seeks to remedy that problem. They say the rules should be written, "by the People and for the People". No one should argue with that! However, if you define a "free society" as a "no rules at all" society, then of course, we don't have a "free society"; and it's very unlikely we ever will! Nevertheless, we do have a choice about, "who writes the rules". That's the essential question raised by the OWS movement.

You may be interested to know that people with "investment income" pay a much lower tax rate that people with "hard-earned" income. Furthermore, some "conservatives" assert that "investment income" should be entirely tax free! They envision a "free society" with no rules and no taxes at all for those so entitled. If realized, this would be the ultimate "entitlement program". The problem is, people with "hard-earned" money will not be so entitled.

Nice strawman! This is not even close to what I said. Your strawman shows me the desperation of your side of this argument. What are you talking about "our" money? If I have a job, spend time away from my lovely family, and work my butt off, then the $$$ earned from that job is MINE, not "yours" or "ours" or however you want to phrase it.

Then shouldn't these lazy anti-Semitic morons be protesting Congress and the White House, rather than Wall Street?

    No. They aren't.

There are PLENTY of regulations regarding wall street. You just have too much of a chip on your shoulder to realize it.

Yes. They seek to "remedy" this "problem" (which is still undefined by the way) by blaming the Jews, crapping on cars, picking fights with police, threating people, impeding upper, lower, and middle-class New Yorkers from getting to work, causing police to work overtime (as a cost of $4 million to the city and climbing) and trashing multiple parts of the city. You have a pretty sick idea of "remedy."

That's how it is. We [supposedly] have an elected body of legislatures that write these rules. If you have a problem with THEIR rules, then write a letter or protest THEIR offices.

As it should be. Actually, it is my belief that investment profits should not be taxed, since the money put into these investments is already status post income tax.

So because I believe in a limited government with no long term capital gains tax, these equates to "no rules?" That's a fairly HUGE leap there.

Keeping investment profits on investment money that was already taxed is "the ultimate entitlement program???" How in the world can you explain that one?! How is it an "entitlement" if I keep the money that I earned?

Yes they would. In fact, hard-working people would be the ones that benefit the most. Social parasites, like the fascist OWS group of losers, on the other hand would not benefit (thankfully).

The OWS movement says the rules (for Wall Street) should be written, "by the People and for the People". No one should argue with that! Jack Ridley Said: "I can, should, and will. Who is "The People?"

In Jack's perfect world, the "people" are those who would work for Jack! In the 18th century, "Jack" was the Lord of the Manor (by right of birth) who paid no taxes while servants and serfs created the wealth that Jack claimed as his own. Of course, Jack "created jobs" (as evidenced by his servants and serfs); but it was not Lord Jack by his own labor that created the wealth of the Manor!

Modern-day Jack seeks to restore the world of the 18th century. In Jack's new world, unearned, tax-free investment income creates 21st century, "Lords of the Manor" who "create jobs" as evidenced by those who work for highly taxed, earned wages. In Jack's new world (as in the 18th century) the wealthy by their own labor create no wealth; but they do consume it in great abundance!

Jack Ridley asks: Who are "the People"? They are not the "Lords of the Manor". Too bad Jack. You are right, dead right; but you were born 200 years too late!

The problem with you right wing lemmings is that you think you're playing Monopoly every day.

The wealthy are about the laziest people one could ever care to meet. They get everybody else to do everything for them. Work....oye vay.

My opinion is that it started out as a good intentioned group that wanted to stop big banks and walstreet from being allowed to (*)(*)(*)(*) the american people. But as it grew, it was highjacked by dumbasses who do nothing but talk about how all rich people are evil.
