Have you ever operated a commercial compactor before? I have and they can be very dangerous if you don't know what your doing or not paying attention. The law is the law, no matter how ridiculous people may think; they were created because children were often killed and maimed at work.
A chimpanzee can operate a trash compacter safely. It is very simple: open the door, throw in the trash, close the door. Push the button to compact the trash. If the door is open, it will not operate.
If someone gets hurt using one of them, they are a fool and should not even have a job, no matter if they are a child or adult.

Getting caught in a commercial trash compactor will almost always kill you; getting hit by a bat or ball and dying is fairly rare. Very poor ananlogy on your part.

The purpose of a trash compactor is to crush things. The purpose of baseball is not to get smashed in the face.
Minors are not permitted to operate most kinds of machinery in non-agricultural jobs and trash compactors and dough mixers fall into that category. They are potentially dangerous and are best left for adults to operate. I know when I worked at a pizza place as a teen the dough mixers were off limits to anyone under 18 as they were quite large and could rip fingers off. And trash compactors are definitely potentially dangerous, there whole purpose is to crush things. I think it is best to let the adults handle the large equipment and I really don't see a problem with this.

It is amazing how many people my age lived through the 50's and 60's riding in the back of a pickup, or riding a bicycle without a helmet. According to you, I am surprised I survived. This thread reminds me of a woman I saw on the street recently with a young child (3-4 years old) riding a tricycle and wearing a crash helmet. The poor kid will probably be seeing a shrink before he graduates from high school. Wow, please don't ever have children, they could end up choking on their cereal, and you could never live with yourself for allowing them to eat it. I was blessed with parents that didn't try and put me in some bubble. They taught me to be responsible, something that is sorely missing from parents today, at least liberal ones. No one wants to see a child hurt, but there are limits on the over need to prevent them from getting hurt. And no, the businesses that move out, are not being replaced, but I'm sure the liberal government will be able to take care of the 40 million that live there, many who are illegal.
