No, I don't speak German but I remember when I was visiting Germany a few polite phrases to use. I can also order two beers in German but that's it :D

I didn't have to worry about exams, just needed to complete a bit of work. Hopefully it was acceptable, I won't know for a while of course. Then study period 1 next year I'll be loading up on research methods for the research work I have to do. Enjoy your break KB!

Lev I think we did it only because we're a bunch of frightened ninnies lol

Actually it was probably as a result of the frighteners from the Great Depression and also our small size as a nation that made it possible. I will give credit where it's due. Previous federal governments of all persuasions have been prudent.

      Thanks for the link Diurtetic.

It's good to hear you've got decent regulation, that sound slike a dream to me in the UK. :D

Lev - the feds are sticking to the line that can weather this. But really that depends on commodity prices and China continuing to grow. Our financial system is pretty well regulated though, so while the ASX is going down the banks - we hope! - won't go bust

Try http://www.theaustralian.com.au - it's Murdoch rag but it's not too bad.

I've tried to wrestle with the anarchist philosophies but my intellectual shortcoming prevent me from understand them. However, from what I do know I like the ideas. One of my annoyances is Lenin and his privileging of the Party, that killed off any march towards the withering away of the state.

I saw your comment about being a "cranky socialist." It's obviously quite expansive, but have you ever read The Anarchist FAQ?

Ideology? Left of centre, sometimes more left than centre but always left of centre. I like to think about the issues though Skinny, I hate being told by a factional leader what I can think or how I can vote. Cranky socialist - that'll do lol

The Soviet Union didn't take Germany until America opened a new front in France. Oh don't forget the constant bombing from the US. LOL- Russia took down Germany.... After the war don't forget about 40 years of occupation.
