Shame... so basically I'll end up using this place much like I did right before I left... only reading posts in the economics and budget/taxes subforums and mostly arguing/trying to understand Riever 0.o

Well thank you very much Frod, those are very kind words and I very much appreciate it. I enjoy the discourse but it does become difficult slogging through what seems like endless waves idiocy... and almost entirely from the rabid right wingers.

To be frank, the idiocy of those on the right here has shifted my position significantly left since my departure. I think I'm in a good spot now though, I've been called a ******* and a right winger since I've returned.

I'll give it some time and see how I feel, I do certainly miss conversing with folks like you... but it seems like some of the better debaters on the left either got banned or left...

Sorry, my bad. You prefer "pwnt". Fair enough.

Ok, I rode the train thingy that was under the ground part of the time. Whatever it was called....I rode it for free too because the machine wouldn't work! I was on the Red Line (Which you probably already know.) I really did want to ride that ferris wheel, but I would just explode if I got that close....

And walking around downtown if fine, except when people keep asking you for money. I am all for helping the poor, but I just don't carry around cash....

O yeah, we were gonna go to Navy Pier but whats his face was there.

I was just joking around about the 7/10. It was pretty nice. We went on a boat tour of the city. We got on right beside the Trump building and went up and down the river and into the Lake. It was raining and about 45 degrees but it was fun. We actually ended up at a Regae bar in Wrigleyville because we had a foreign exchange student who didn't have an ID on him and they were the only place that let us in. Me and a couple friends left and went to one of the sports bars and a microbrewery there. One of them wore a Pujols Jersey the whole time, I have never been more sure my food was spit in. :) Me and my two friends left earl and ended up walking around downtown at about midnight. First time I ever road a subway, it was interesting.

We stayed downtown at State and Adams at a place called club quarters. CBOT (CME now) and the Chicago Fed were just around the corner. We went to Wriglyville at night and did stuff.

So, I was in your city over the weekend. I'll give it a 7/10.

But yeah, this place did improve my debating too in the early days. I actually notice it giving me an edge in law school pretty often. Random things I researched to reply to some post way back when come up in class and whatnot. Or even perspectives on issues I never considered until somebody here brought them up that turn out to be useful. But lately all I'm really doing is repeating arguments I've already made 100 times before and using the same links, which is pretty much a waste of time.

Yeah same... Maybe I just like being mad? Or having easy prey? I dunno. I need to stop posting again soon... This semester has been way less work than last semester, but still finals are coming up in May.

LOL. Yeah. I just got the "you need to rep more people before you can rep frodly again" message myself... What happens when the circle of posters you appreciate gets smaller than 9? You just can't rep anymore! Maybe I should just start repping posters right when they join and make their "hello, my name is so and so" post to break out...

Middle East studies eh? Yeah, I heard some stuff was going down in that general area.

Yeah... I mean, I'm still studying a lot, but not like I was last semester... I think I was in blind panic mode all last semester, so that kept me studying like 16 hours a day, 7 days a week, where this semester I'm more like 12 hours a day, 6 days a week or something... I need to knock it back up a notch though.

Conservative is not the best word to describe me economically. Conservatives get a lot of things wrong too. On foreign policy...I use to be a conservative, but it has somewhat shifted to a non-interventionist in most cases stance.

Nice! Congratulations man! That's an awesome school. And NYC is such a cool place too. Well deserved sir.

Law school is going pretty well. I did well the first semester, but now I'm kind of losing steam... Trying to motivate...

That is really cool! I am really glad for you. Of course it dashes all my hopes of you becoming correct about things....

They have not told us where we are staying, but it will be from the 16th-18th. I think we might take a train. The school is pretty good a per diem so lots of spending money!

I am not sure where the CME is, but probably not too far from it.

Something in the air eh? Corrupt politicians, ridiculous taxes, and dead people at the bottom of a river have a smell? (Well, obviously the dead people would.)

Yeah, it is a school trip. We are going to the CME and The Chicago Fed. I am a little more exciting about the CME than the Fed.

The essence of any utopianism is: Conjure an ideal that makes an impossible demand on reality, then announce that, until the demand is met in full, your ideal can't be fairly evaluated. Attribute any incidental successes to the halfway meeting of the demand, any failure to the halfway still to go.
