I'm aware that he was quite opposed to Stalinism, but no mere quote can erase the realities of the destruction of Nester Makhno's Black Army and the Free Territory of Ukraine. Don't you consider the Free Territory to have been legitimately socialist? And again, what of the brutal suppression of the Kronstadt Rebellion? The sailors of Kronstadt merely favored the restoration of democracy and the empowerment of the soviets as opposed to the ruling class.

To be honest, I'm inclined to agree with this observation of Kropotkin's in a letter to Lenin: "Russia has already become a Soviet Republic only in name. The influx and taking over of the people by the 'party,' that is, predominantly the newcomers (the ideological communists are more in the urban centers), has already destroyed the influence and constructive energy of this promising institution - the soviets. At present, it is the party committees, not the soviets, who rule in Russia. And their organization suffers from the defects of bureaucratic organization. To move away from the current disorder, Russia must return to the creative genius of local forces which, as I see it, can be a factor in the creation of a new life. And the sooner that the necessity of this way is understood, the better. People will then be all the more likely to accept [new] social forms of life. If the present situation continues, the very word 'socialism' will turn into a curse. That is what happened to the conception of equality in France for forty years after the rule of the Jacobins."

And yes, he was difficult to kill because his assassin was somewhat inept. Rasputin was hard to kill too. That obviously doesn't make him an admirable Russian revolutionary.

I saw your comment regarding Trotsky on Bosco's profile. Why would you be inclined to say that "Trotsky is awesome" in light of his role in the antagonism towards and eventual destruction of Nester Makhno's Black Army and the Free Territory in Ukraine, as well as the brutal suppression of the Kronstadt Rebellion? I tend to find that he exhibited many of the same statist and anti-democratic elements that Stalin did, albeit to a lesser degree.

Well I respect elements of Marxism-Lennism, And a lot of elements of anarchism. However I despise the Stalinist style system, overall I would be a left marxist, my two favourite theorists are Luxemborg and Trotsky.

Seen your comment in the group. Its such a shame that American workers will not stand up for their rights for fear of being branded a communist, oh how the elite tyranny continues. Anyway we have got into a mini theory plus practical argument in the Western Europe forum, you could join in if you want comrade.
