I haven't been in the health profession my entire adult life. I didn't decide to start college until I was 22, but once I began studying embryology, it became quite apparent that fetuses are human beings. Human life is a continual, developmental process from conception until death.

I knew that fetuses were human beings biologically, but what about philosophically? I wondered if an unconscious being was worth protecting. To answer this, I thought about my own kids and how dreary would be my world had they never been born; my world would have been dreary without me ever knowing it.

I also think about some of the amazing people the world has had the pleasure of knowing, and wonder "What if they had been aborted?" What if, say, Thomas Jefferson had never been born? You can say, too, "What if Hitler had been aborted?" But my experience is that people are unexceptional in almost every way. Most people are greedy and uncaring, so Hitlers - or, at least people with that type of personality - are not all that uncommon. Truly great people are uncommon, I believe.

To me, a Right to Life trumps a Right to Privacy (what Roe v. Wade was based on).

      Hope that helps.

I used to be pro-choice myself. Things change, though. You look at issues a little more and sometimes you see something, or consider things, you didn't before.

In any event, my views on abortion have nothing to do with my religion. I am a deeply religious person, but I do not inject, or attempt to inject, my religious views into public policy.

I fully believe what the Treat of Tripoli, signed by President John Adams, says: "As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquility, of Mussulmen;"

Thanks! I should warn you, though, I'm a pro-life libertarian. Other than that, we should agree on most issues.

Haha, never mind, I have a self-esteem problem, lol. I was just referring to our conversation. Have you addressed my individual points, the ones you colored? I am not so concerned with who is wrong or right, except that I'm concerned that I have an accurate view. So, I'm always trying to subject my beliefs to an acid test. So, you can try to pick apart what I've said, and I won't take as combative or anything.

Yes, but I think they are superior to our current viable options. If they can become viable, as they say they can, IMO they would be worth getting behind. Agree/disagree?

Yeah I guess. I recon Jesus was a one of a kind so I have faith in him and his teachings - but as you see it does require some faith.
