You're talking about "logic" in normal vernacular. I agree with you. But the skeptics subscribe to a different form of logic. By their rules, everything must be proven empirically before it is accepted, which is ultimately a self-defeating process resulting in nihilism, if they follow through with it. The skeptic will never accept anything new, but they will become suspect of things they still believe in. This is my goal- to show them how under their rules, nothing is real, so maybe they were too quick to dismiss God.

I don't agree that "all logic leads to nihilism." If your mode of reasoning leads to nihilism--there is something wrong with the reasoning. God is supremely logical--and God is not nihilistic.

However, I do agree that what the atheist does is arbitrarily apply their mode of reasoning and don't bother with consistency. I just thought you were not recognizing how Divinely Logical God is. He is perfect knowledge and logic so...He can't be illogic--and thus nihilistic.

MAYTAG: Your ideas concerning Nihilism and logic are flawed, IMO. This will undermine your newfound faith if you do not get to the consistent Logic which is the Supreme Reality that is God. It is a contradiction to say Logic is Nihilism, because the Creator of logic is life giving, not a destroyer. If you see a contradiction in logic, then it is OUR reasoning or OUR understanding that is flawed, not the REALITY of God.

Beautiful post. I have to spread some rep around before I can tag you again, but I wanted to acknowledge this.

PS: I didn't see your response below until just now and that too is beautiful! Welcome home to the loving arms of Christ! Peace be with you always! And don't worry about past stuff--I don't recall anything that was hurtful. I do remember you claiming that you were running for office or something and you wanted to fool your constituency--or something like that. To be truly Christ-like, I strive to take people at their word and give them the benefit of the doubt. I know my own path has been bumpy at times, i can't expect it to be any easier for others. :sun:

My life has changed, Fish. I could no longer deny the presence I have always felt- that knocking at my heart. I always knew the truth deep inside and even when I became aware of it, I was still too proud to let it out in the open. But finally I have and I have given my life over to Jesus. I'm very excited about this and I'm glad you noticed. I was a bit shocked when I was instantly attacked here by the same people whose sides I used to take in debate when I was an atheist. They didn't notice at all that I was the same person, just began attacking the first time I made reference to my reborn Christian beliefs. I had always thought that Christians' claims of being persecuted were a myth but I see now that they are real. I'm sorry for anything hurtful I may have said to you in the past. Even then, I tried to keep things civil, but I may have crossed a line at some point, I'm not sure. Without Christ in my life, it was easy to cross those lines. Now I feel His presence and wish to glorfiy His name in all that I do.
