      Sure, why not?

Some of my favorite books are fiction - Ayn Rand's Anthem, Dostoevsky's Demons & Pasternak's Doctor Zhivago. In fact, the book that probably had the most impact on my thinking had little to nothing to do with History and Politics - Henry David Thoreau's ode to personal independence and self-reliance, Walden.

What are some of your favorites?

PS. Thanks for Paine & Spooner tips - I haven't read "No Treason". One of these days I've gotta read some of John Locke's work. From what I've read he had a great influence on the philosophy and thinking of the Founders.

So after I thought about it I realized that I hadn't read much political books per se. I've read a lot of political material directly, however, and would recommend the following as they both had a very profound impact on my political thinking:

      No Treason by Lysander Spooner
Rights of Man by Thomas Paine

They are both available for free online. Here are some links if you're interested:

      No Treason: http://praxeology.net/LS-NT-6.htm
      Rights of Man: http://www.let.rug.nl/usa/documents/1786-1800/thomas-paine-the-rights-of-man/text.php

Most of the books I've read are actually fiction (aside from textbooks I've read in school), so if you need some recommendations in that regard, I have plenty of them.

That looks like a great series of books. You will make me spend all my money on books about the founding fathers...

Thanks for recommending that book. Read it yesterday. Was a great read.

of course you would have given Lynch the ball there.Only a retarded idiot would NOT which is why any thinking person knows that Carrol was paid off to throw that superbowl.an idiot retard like Brian $HITTENHEIMER who nobody in the NFL wanted after the Rams let him go because of the obvious that he is an idiot,he would have called a play like that but carrol is an experienced coach who knows better. He is even more scum that belicheat because belicheat at least cheats to WIN. only a retard like $HITTENHEIMER would have called for a pass play the fact the pats were horrible in goal line stands against the run all year long and Lynch was running all over them.

Also the pats were hardly the better team.they had to cheat to get there as they have ever since belicheat took over.they were playing against a crippled secondary and the one that replaced bobby lane when he got hurt had no business wearing a seahawk uniform.once he went out, brady had his way,had he played against a healthy seahawk secondary,it would have been a lopsided victory by the hawks.you saw what they are capable of doing when they are healthy against the donkeys.they shut down the highest scoring offense in NFL history.

Well, it's nice to know that someone agrees with me about that study.

It's funny how people want to believe the absolute WORST about the US and our military. We had people mentioning genocide and all sorts of crazy things in that thread. I guess boards like this tend to attract some crazies though. Lol.

Thanks! You are too kind. I'm just reading the studies and the criticisms of the studies, and other studies that were performed that don't agree with that Lancet study. The studies that are based upon body counts, death certificates and hospitalization records are MUCH lower. The Lancet study is based upon household surveys, and I don't see any corroborating evidence to support them.

Hey, thanks for the reputation. I'm still a newbie when it comes to giving "reps" and I always forget about that feature.
