A senior citizen bus trip from the Pleasant Sunsets Senior home in Springfield, IL to this popular tourist mecca in SW Missouri, caused some trouble for the retirees and a run in with the law as well.

As they entered Missouri, an elderly woman, Bertha Mellonklump, came up to the bus driver Amos Cal Fischer complaining about being molested by a man while she was seated in the back row.

The driver knowing the bus was loaded with people who's ages averaged out to about the late 80's, felt that the woman had fallen asleep and had a bad dream. So Fischer told her to go back to her seat, and sit down.

A short time later, another even older woman comes forward, and through tears, claims that she too was just molested. The driver now thought he had a bus load of old wackos, but wondered if it were happenning, who would be molesting those old ladies?

When a third old lady came up and said that she'd been molested, Fischer decided that he'd had enough, cell phoned the police, and pulled into the first rest area on the busy interstate highway.

As he turned on the interior lights, and stood up, he could see an old man on his hands and knees crawling in the aisles.

Claims Fischer, "I simply said…Hey gramps, what are you doing down there and that's when the cops came into the bus and saw him down on the floor too."

When the officers questioned 92 year old Mel Breverton, the man replied, "I dropped my toupee. I thought I found it three times, but every time I try to grab it…The darn thing seems to run away from me."

Mr. Breverton was taken into custody and will appear before a magistrate on Monday.

Several women had to treated at the scene for, what Branson paramedics called, ‘emotional distress,’ most were administered smelling salts and released. One woman complained of a bad case of the vapors and was given a sedative and a pair of free matinee tickets to the Grandpa Jones Show.
