So much for focusing on the "issues." Santorum openly admitted that he's the first presidential to talk about the "dangers of contraception." Why does the danger of "sexual libertine" concern the president at all?

“One of the things I will talk about that no president has talked about before is the dangers of contraception in this country, the whole sexual libertine idea,” said Santorum, who has seven children. “Many in the Christian faith have said, ‘Well, that’s okay. Contraception’s okay.’ It’s not okay because it’s a license to do things in the sexual realm that is counter to how things are supposed to be.”

There's the exact quote. Go ahead and defend it.

The man is clearly unelectable. I have no idea why people support such idiots.

I think that the dangers of electing an asshat like Santorum should be considered by all voters...

What actually bothers me most is that Santorum thinks he's the expert on how things are "supposed to be."

Personally, if it does happen, I hope Pat Robertson is his VP. The nation would goto hell faster and the two of them would be such a sick joke that any attempt at creating an authoritarian nation would backfire into a coup.

BTW, me wanting the nation to goto hell doesn't come from hate, but from the fact that it's inevitable given the kind of idiots we elect. The sooner it happens, the sooner we can rebuild and get on with our lives. Also I'd rather it happen while I'm younger than while I'm older.

He's views don't scare me. What keeps me up at night though is that there are enough people in the country that actually support this guy... Insanity, absolute insanity.

So I suppose this also means he's against vasectomies, that's bc after all...

Anyone else noticed that the only people who are really militant about womens rights.... are men?

I don't get the last part. I know plenty of girls that are pretty militant about their rights. It seems men are the ones who want to do things like get rid of abortion, require scans, get rid of birth control, etc. Women are pretty much the opposite. Guess if I was I girl I'd rather not get knocked up by some jackass either, where as it seems the christian right wants as many women as possible to get pregnant so they can become single mothers on welfare and never advance in life. Not sure why, guess it's that whole twisted logic they have that if people don't have birth control they won't have sex. Oh and abstinence only education works wonders. (*)(*)(*)(*)ing idiots living in their own strange bubble IMO.

So what you just said was that women want the right to do what they please with their bodies and men are fighting them at every opportunity for control.

And to make it more insane, they fight birth control, which results in unwanted pregnancies and poverty and then also don't support welfare they'll need once they've got in this situation. It's madness.

Willful ignorance, not sure of any other way to describe it.

Ha, I was thinking of Pat Buchanan.

What are the odds that Santorum beats Obama if he gets the nomination? 0.2%? I'd like to say he only appeals to a sector of evangelicals and fundamentalists, but it appears to be bigger then that.

I have to agree, I just don't understand it. As you said above I think it's some weird control issue, these feeling that they need to assert their dominance. I just don't understand these kind of people.

I'm not sure how anyone other than schizophrenic support him. He's clearly insane. Sleeping with dead babies and talking about how Satan is overtaking the US are not the marks of a sane man.

Which is why people like him have enough kids to form a football team and no means to care for them all.

If he intends to ban contraception, he doesn't stand a chance. But I hope he does get to take on Obama, it will mean Obama will win.
