As some as suggested the Republican party is fractured from this lengthy primary process. The best way to take care of a party fracture is to cure it by bringing all the parts of the part together. A Mitt Romney/Rand Paul ticket is the ticket to bring the party together for the following reasons: - Mitt Romney at the top of the ticket brings the heavy support from Established Republicans, Moderate Republicans, Mormons in Swing states, North Eastern Appeal, and Swing State Appeal. Nevada, Michigan, Virginia, New Hampshire, Florida are all swing states -- Romney has something going for him in all of those states. In Nevada there is a heavy Mormon population, Romney is from Michigan, Romney and Ron Paul are the only ones running ads in Virginia so more Virginians will hear his message which will carry over in the GE, Romney has strong support in New Hampshire, and Romney dominated in Florida. - Rand Paul as the VP will take care of two voting groups that are crucial to this election: Ron Paul supporters and the Tea Party. If Ron Paul endorses Romney (which he will) a good majority of his supporters will cast their votes for Romney. Ron Paul will also get a crucial speech slot during the convention. Rand has strong Tea Party support which is very important. A Romney/Rand Paul ticket will defeat Obama. I'm 100% sure of this for the reasons I just stated -- it hits all the key components for the Republican party -- Establishment/Moderate Republicans, Ron Paul Supporters, and the Tea Party. This GOP ticket will defeat Obama in 2012 311 to 227.
Interesting idea. I think you may be right. That being said, I will be voting for Ron Paul on Tuesday here in Michigan. Then it is off to Panama City Beach, Florida on Friday!
I don't agree with Ron Paul on most issues but I have no problem with him having a say in the party platform for the GOP. I would like this decade to be less about military intervention and more about the invention of jobs in this country.
I dont think ron paul endorsing, nor him even being on the ticket will get most Paul supporters to vote for mittens.
I think having Rand as VP would help bring out the message even more. Sure, it's not what I would want but I wouldn't want to lose all this momentum because of stubbornness.
I thought I read somewhere that Rubio said he didn't want to be VP this time around if the situation presented itself?
Anybody from the south and conservative would balance the ticket.. Bush from Florida.. Huck from Arkansas.. I dont think Romney would pick a freshman anything to be 1 step away.. He values experience in leadership qualities.. as I do. Even Perry from Texas beats Biden..
Oh baby...if you know the feud between the Clinton's on the left and the BUSH's on the less Right.. It would drive Hillary and Bill absolutely Bonkers.. It would divide the Obama team over night..
