Anyone notice that Dave1mo has yet to explain or even address his obsession with Bristol Palin?

That's actually very logical. It used to be that an unwed mother was stigmatized by society, this created peer pressure to remain abstinent. Ever since liberal society has promoted promiscuity, taught sex-ed in grade school and provided birth control and abortions, the teen pregnancy rate and single parent homes has increased exponentially.

The key is peer pressure, once it's deemed acceptable to be promiscuous and the knowledge that the state will support the bastard child, instead of having to take responsibility for one's actions, kids will not consider the consequences... because they don't have to.

yeah, and children were called bastards if mom did not marry their father... would not want to return to when people bullied others for no valid reason

Because she's the face of the "abstinence only" movement, despite the fact that she's proof it doesn't work.

I thought lots of people gave extra credence to a message delivered by someone who has "been there"?

Neither I nor my wife ever had premarital sex despite not getting married until we were 30 and 27 years old respectively.

Would you take our views on the subject more seriously then? If not, why not?

No, because despite the fact that my girlfriend and I have had premarital sex for more than a year together, we haven't gotten pregnant, diseased, or whatever you think is awful about premarital sex. I've been there, used the contraceptive information I was provided by both health classes and my parents, and avoided any life-altering conditions.

Abstinence-only education is unrealistic and clearly doesn't work, as proven by Bristol Palin.

Condoms are still legal last I checked. You can purchase them at the drugstore or in vending machines. They, unlike oral contraceptives, are effective at preventing deadly or life-long STDs.

People on both sides of the fence think that unwanted pregnancy is the worst thing that can happen to someone. Ask those with Hep C or HIV if they would agree.

I think abstinence is a good thing to teach to teenagers, however I also think they should be fully aware of birth control as well. I don't have kids yet so I might just be blowing smoke out of my ass, but it's what I plan to do with my own children. Wait to have sex, at least until you're 18. But I also know how teenagers can be and the likelihood of all my children(however many that may or may not be)waiting is very slim. I think as a parent it would be my responsibility to inform of all aspects of sex regarding the emotional and physical implications of sex, to the consequences. Even be honest about them about yes, it does feel good. And it would only be responsible of me to inform them of birth control and safe sex.

you are paying for it through your premiums, and "free" is of a different meaning here. we all know nothing is truely free so it's strange for people to focus on that tangent.

also, what i recently learned is that 9 out of every 10 employer based insurance plan have already been covering birth control since before obama even took office. he simply wants to fill in the cracks. not really a big deal if everyone would stop talking about it.

One example doesn't prove anything. Palins does not and neither does yours.
