I wonder how many people are out there like me that have difficulty asking for due process for Zimmerman because they realize that their "strange bedfellows" are a bunch of racists?

I want due process for Zimmerman, but its pissing me off that so many of the people weighing in feel the need to diminish black people or urban black people. All of my life I have been befriended by members of this community. My best friend from back home is the most loyal, loving, got your back to the end person and she happens to be black. She wears hoodies. Hell yeah. We support the Pistons. Doesn't mean we're/she's gonna rob someone.

I'm sick of this. White people don't appreciate being called crackers or rednecks or hillbillies...well, quit determining "who" someone is by what they look like, quit painting everyone with a really limited brushstroke.

If all he did was ask Trey what he was doing in the neighborhood and Trey responded with violence, guess what? Its not illegal to ask someone what they're doing in a neighborhood you live on. Its not even illegal to follow someone in your own neighborhood as long as you're not threatening him at all and even then, telling someone you're calling the cops is NOT reason enough to attack them. Zimmerman obviously didn't run up on Trey pointing the gun threatening to kill him. That much is obvious now. They exchanged words and the fight began. If Zimmerman questioned him, which IS LEGAL, and Trey went ballistic and attacked him, guess who's innocent? You can call someone an (*)(*)(*)(*)(*)(*) and they have no right to attack you. You can say almost anything you want and they have no right to attack, just keep walking.

Imagine how this would've went is Trey simply said he was staying at a house up the street with his Dad, #662 or whatever, and pointed it out to Zimmerman. All suspicion would've been alleviated and no fist fight.

 

...I don't know if felons can even own gun, let alone carry one...

(CBS News) NEW ORLEANS - A New Orleans police officer placed on desk duty following a deadly shooting incident was suspended for posting a comment on a local TV station's website calling Trayvon Martin a thug who deserved to die.

Jason Giroir identified himself as a New Orleans Police Department employee when he posted a comment over the weekend on the WWVTV.com website in response to an article about a rally supporting Martin. He wrote, "Act like a thug die like one!"

Martin, 17, was unarmed when he was fatally shot last month in Sanford, Fla., by a neighborhood watch volunteer.

The Times-Picayune reports that when another commenter called Giroir's comments racist, Giroir responded: "Eddie come on down to our town with a 'Hoodie' and you can join Martin in HELL and talk about your racist stories!"

Police Superintendent Ronal Serpas announced Monday that Giroir has been suspended indefinitely without pay.

"Included in those comments was that he was a member of the NOPD, which have caused me great concern concerning his fitness for duty," Serpas said.

"To say that I'm angry is an understatement; I'm furious," Serpas said. "Let me be clear: the hard working men and women of the NOPD do not condone such statements. Giroir by those statements has embarrassed this department with insensitive, harmful and offensive comments."
