Acts of human kindness? You have no clue what you're talking about. You missed the dart board, let alone the bulls eye. Whatever is correct, please refrain from steering off the topic of how morally and mentally weak and fragile Americans have become, with your anti-religious hate speech..

Well, I would appreciate clarification as to what miracles you were talking about. I am not a believer in religion, and often question those who follow it to explain their rationale for believing in such doctrines, yet I do not object to the right of one to believe in a religion or a god. In regards to the topic, you and I both agreed that Americans are weak people, that most cannot handle true liberty.

I've already had one of my threads closed due to off-topic conversations. I would be happy to elaborate for you but, please, it needs to be in the religion section in a new thread. Clearly you have no more to say about this topic. Kindly withdraw.

True. Otherwise, why would so many Americans be so eager to trade their liberties for more government involvement in their lives? Democrat politicians even depend on Americans being wimps.

True liberty requires toughness. It requires being to stand up to those that want to take it away from the masses. Moreover, in this day and age, it will require the ability to convince the power elite that liberty and freedom is compatible with their interests. If one can accomplish the latter, one will be considered in the same realm as Washington, Hamilton, Jefferson, Madison, J. Adams, S. Adams, etc.

Standing up and fighting to one's own government is the hardest thing, no matter which nation you belong to, people are pretty much the same. Americans used to speak loudly and criticize other country's people, how can they stand such dictatorship, why don't they fight or bring down their own government?....etc. Now, Americans, it's time for you to answer these questions and show us what you really are.

I'm not into bringing the govt down. I'm more interested in seeing Americans abandon their wailing wall bs and knock off acting like a bunch of helpless, hopeless parasites. Politicians are just using this pathetic lack of backbone and integrity to empower their own sorry asses. Screw that!

As my school's 2009 Model United Nations conference slogan affirmed, turn words into action.

After reading your post more closely, it appears what you wrote was accurate (apologies). Although with regards to the above, Nassar's regime was certainly not Baathist.

What's with the flog the government type posts? In a dictatorship the people are frightened of the government. Are you frightened of your government?

I think some liberties were compromised, but they weren't removed. And considering the HOLES we had in this nation's security back in 2000, we had to do something. Sometime the options are: Change or Die.

Not everyone. And we don't ever want to go to the other extreme either... becoming overly proud, confident and war-like.

(See the above.) We're but a nation of HUMAN BEINGS. And as such we posses the same limitations as others on this planet. We don't need to pretend to be something we are not; people and nations who do that end up being 'nothing'.

I've never seen a person fall harder, than the guy who thought he BIG STUFF... but eventually found out his/her EQUAL was right around the corner. There is something POWERFUL about those who are compassionate peacemakers.

One thing we should never have gotten into (so deeply) was other people's business... while NOT taking care of our own right here in America. That has been a massive problem for over 50+ years.

I love America; I know it has flaws, faults and limitations. It is a nation comprised of HUMAN beings; I retain a realistic view in light of the same. We need to improve/correct many things, and those solutions will NOT come overnight.

Frightened of the government? Just let the IRS get the opportunity to run you through their fun-house one time and you tell me.

In reality though, what should (but doesn't) concern us all is the trend towards more and more Americans being fine and dandy with, and even desiring, an ever more powerful government, while looking to it as the solution to their problems. This growing political force, constituting somewhere around one third to one half of the nation's citizenry, can't seem to fathom any need for limits to the realm of governmental authority. These people view an empowered government, as opposed to the enterprise of a free and industrious people, as the key to realizing their particular utopian dreams. This is a rather ominous trajectory, to say the least. In fact, it's pretty much the opposite direction of that which has motivated people from all over the world to come here in the first place.

Well, after laughing at this post, I'm answering it. ha ha ha I'm still laughing though. :)

"I hate America". Wow. I don't know if this reflects more jealousy on your part if you are not American, or more self-hatred on your part if you ARE American. But no matter- let me explain to you why America reacted so strongly to 9/11.

America is not weak. America is defensive because she's a little bit prideful. America realizes that she is likely the greatest (and I don't mean powerful, though she's that too), but the greatest country in the history of the world, and the world to come. It's unfortunately 'easy' to be prideful about that.

When someone does something to us that is offensive, we feel like we don't deserve it. And we don't. No one really deserves anything offensive.

America also knows that there are problems in the world that she needs to address. She needs to stand up to evil even more than she does. -Not necessarily in a militaristic way, but in a way that defeats hatred and violence.

America is not weak. She is the opposite of weak.

I know what I want, and it is NOT Ron Paul.

Dont get me wrong. I like some of his ideas. I LOVE his military platform. I LOVE his golden rule in regards to foreign policy.

I HATE his economic policy though. Just his idaes on the gold standard alone would devastate this country, and wipe out trillions of dollars of wealth.

I definitely agree that too many people are willing to trade freedom for the illusion of safety. On a LOT of levels.

If miracles happened constantly, they wouldnt be miracles now would they?

I have yet to see any bonified miracle anywhere in the world. Nor any evidence to support any miracle beyond doubt.

Every single that that happens, has happened, and will happen, has a natural real world explanation for it. EVERYTHING. We might not understand the reasons at present, but that does not mean it doesnt exist.

I disagree with that premise. You are positioning yourself from the beginning in disbelief. So your mind is closed and your are attempting to get me to waste my time with someone who has no desire to see things from a different lense. The difference between you and I is I was once on your side of the fence, in disbelief, but I never closed my mind. God revealed to me his endless power. Take care.

Some things can only be done by government. Government can also provide services that won't be or can't be provided by any other instrumentality. Until humanity reaches its utopia then government is going to be a fact of life and not just a necessary evil. Yes, there should be limits on its authority and that's what representative democracy is all about. These things though do depend on an individual view. For instance, I would much sooner live in a society where the government (elected in a representative democracy) was the most powerful entity; I would be very wary of any corporation that was more powerful than my government. I know many would disagree with that point of view, but I put that down to ideology, not practicality.

There are some things that I think have to be done by the government because they have to be done by an entity that is responsible to the people rather than to shareholders. Or they can only be performed by an entity with financial resources but no need for profit. Also, you sometimes need things to be done by an organization that is powerful, but restricted by the constitution.

I don't know exactly what portion of the economy should be spent democratically, but some portion should be, I think.

Most people aren't disputing that you need government. But the closer government is to the people (local and state) the better their needs and desires are represented. The danger is unrestrained centralized government that has zero to little accountability to the people, which is what DC is morphing into and there is danger if Americans accept this as a fact of life.

Like if you're European, do you want the EU deciding all the rules or would you rather your own country maintains some sovereignty of their own.

To a certain extent you are right. My mind isnt closed, but it will remain extremley scpeticle until at some point, I witness, personally, some type of evidence of god. Cause up to this point in my life, I have seen not a single thing that will lead me to believe he is real.

Take for example, miracle healing. One of my favorite examples.

Why is it that the only "miracle" healing that people receive are things like say.. cancer? Or something internal like that. Where the person is also of course receiving OTHER treatments. Such as chemo or what not. Whatever. And then all of a sudden, their cancer is gone. OMG ITS A MIRACLE! PRAISE BE TO JESUS! Oh. And also, thanks to the chemotherapist.......

Why does god never ever EVER heal physical ailments? Where it would be irrifutable? Its always something that could have other causes or reasons.

The perfect example would be. Why doesnt god ever heal amputees? Simple question. But the answer will be either extremely complex if your a theist. Or extremley simple or your not.

I am not closed to god. But at this point, it will take a very large burden of proof to convince me that I have been wrong.

Iam not an atheist. I am agnostic. I believe that if there IS a god.

1.) he doesnt intervene in the affairs of man, and never has.

2.) If there is a god, he is unknowable to humans in any way shape or form.

3.) If there is a god, NONE of the holy books have it right. I do NOT believe in the christian god, the muslim god. Take whatever flavor you want. I dont buy it.

If you're looking at evidence from a scientific standpoint you're never going to get it and God is very clear why that is so. However, if you approach God, with humility, and ask for a sign that will prove it to you (doesn't have to prove it to anyone else, how God reaches us all is differently). And once he does you're going to have to decide if your life is just being rained upon with vast amounts of unlikely coincidences....or if it's something else. I'm at the point where I've been revealed so much that believing God has never intervened in my life would be foolish on my end. But perhaps he's done far more for me than you. Then again I've probably asked more. Communicate with your creator, don't be afraid.
