I think thats an unfair assessment of England and France's chances. Both are streets ahead of Greece. As far as the Czechs, hmm, they do have pedigree and I see them this year as the dark horses like Denmark and greece of years past. The czechs are smart and know how to play and mix up styles to adapt. I hope they can prove me right against portugal.
Scoreless at the half. Here's hoping none of these games go to penalty kicks. Now I gotta go to work...bummer!
Germany and Spain came to the tournament as clear favourites . For whatever reasons ( new Topic) , the overall standard has not been great . Spain are clearly not the force they were . Managers have seen how to muzzle a team of little guys , however talented . France have badly disappointed given their previous pre tournament form. Not much between Italy and England , and if Ronaldo can be rubbed out of the game , Portugal have no great chance . I slightly favour Germany with Spain and the winners of the Sunday match to be the only serious contenders
No they aren't. England and France both have little chance of winning, but not no chance. And as far as the Czechs go, obviously they had no chance. They were terrible today. And they do have pedigree, but the players who made that pedigree aren't playing anymore. There current team is NOT good.
Very easy win for Portugal despite the late goal , they looked a class better the entire game. I can run faster than Milan Baros and i am older than he is.
glad to see Portugal get through, for a moment there and after so many missed chances, thought we could've conceded a goal in a czech counter attack or set piece. Thankfully we proved far superior.
Go on England! I want to meet England at the final with Spain, and if any of both win I will be happy!
I actually cheer on England in the European championships, because I have no connection to any of the nations at all. So my allegiance in football is to my favored club side, and England has a lot of Liverpool players, and Steven Gerrard in particular. I also cheer for Denmark because of Daniel Agger, and used to like Spain a lot when Liverpool still had Xabi Alonso(who I still love even though he left Liverpool) and Fernando Torres(who I now hate). That said though, as much as I would like England to win, I think they will beat Italy and then lose to Germany in a match where the score is close but the play is entirely one sided.
I'd say that you called it. I only saw the first half(work), but I thought Germany's shaky defense(2 goals to Greece?!) finally caught up to them. Congrats to Italy. I expect Spain to win, but I think Italy can win, therefore I will be cheering for the Azzurri! Gotta root for the underdog!
Spain was fantastic last night and they totally deserve the trophy. Italy greatly exceeded expectations and they should be very happy to reach the final.
I have never seen so many well paced and on target passes. My goodness Spain was in the zone. You just can't beat a team when they are doing that.
I saw one of the team arriving for the Olympic football yesterday, think it was the French. That starts this week.
one of the problems with this is FIFA always intended to have everyone play with the same rules at every level of competition everywhere...this won't be available to all levels of competition just the top ones who can afford it... still it's better than nothing getting eliminated from the WC because a linesman or referee was blocked from a clear view of a goal or no goal situation was devastating for fans and players...
Soccer is awesome. I recorded this last month at Anfield. YNWA!
