How could Republicans have allowed Romney to become the nominee?!

The list of privatization failures is long indeed. The most egregious and unAmerican IMO is the prison system.
Look at AZ, they have passed a huge violation of the 4th for one reason, to feed the prison contractor more bodies.

Gary Johnson is the choice for people wanting honesty & a restoration of all Constitutional rights. He's very honest & can't be bribed. He's very kind & smart, as well. garyjohnson2012 dot com/ has a comparison of Obama, Romney & himself on major issues. Videos 1 to 2 minute videos on each issue. There's no hate, I think of him like a friend I never met.

He suggests a 1 time experiment: elect him & if people decide they don't like peace, prosperity, & freedom, we can in 4 years vote back in tyranny.

What complete utter nonsense. ONE COMPANY does not a portfolio make. I have lost money on a few investments and made much on many investments. All my working life I paid in the maximum amount to SS. Today my SS benefits represent a tiny share of my retirement income and my SS benefits are eaten up by taxes. Had I been allowed to invest the FICA SS share myself, I would have realized a many fold better ROI. The Medicare share of FICA taxes, I consider an excellent "investment."

The gop doesn't want to win, that's the only thing I can come up with, Romney is unelectable, and will get beat like a drum in Nov. Back to back rinos in two elections, wtf are they up to?

This is the most sensible post in this thread, and addresses the crux of the matter. For the conomy to grow and employment to increase, businesses have to have the confidence in the future to invest and expand. Rommney, for all his faults, has a good understanding of the importance of business in the economy whereas Obama has no clue.

    Ya think?

What happened the last time we put a business-savvy Republican in charge?

    January 2009

Job loss: Worst in 34 years
Employers slashed 598,000 more jobs in January [2009] as unemployment rate climbed to 7.6%.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- Employers slashed another 598,000 jobs off of U.S. payrolls in January, taking the unemployment rate up to 7.6%, according to the latest government reading on the nation's battered labor market.

The latest job loss is the worst since December 1974, and brings job losses to 1.8 million in just the last three months, or half of the 3.6 million jobs that have been lost since the beginning of 2008.

    http://money.cnn.com/2009/02/06/news/economy/jobs_january/index.htm

Market players were also disappointed by reports that U.S. home prices fell 8.7% year-over-year in November, U.S. housing starts fell 15.5% in December, and weekly initial jobless claims rose 62,000 to 589,000.

On Wednesday, the 30-stock Dow Jones industrial average finished with a loss of 248.42 points, or 2.94%, to 8,200[/B].

598,000 Jobs Shed In Brutal January

Unemployment Hits 7.6% as Downturn Picks Up Steam

The need for progress on those fronts seemed more important than ever yesterday, as the Labor Department announced that conditions worsened more than expected last month. The nation's employers shed 598,000 jobs, the most since 1974, driving the unemployment rate to 7.6 percent from 7.2 percent. If the jobless rate keeps rising at the pace it has for the past two months, it will hit double digits in summer and reach its highest rate since the Great Depression by the fall.

GROSS DOMESTIC PRODUCT: FOURTH QUARTER 2008 (PRELIMINARY)
Real gross domestic product -- the output of goods and services produced by labor and property located in the United States -- decreased at an annual rate of 6.2 [later revised to 9.2] percent in the fourth quarter of 2008[/B], (that is, from the third quarter to the fourth quarter), according to preliminary estimates released by the Bureau of Economic Analysis.

Continued Unemployment Claims at Record High
In the week ending Jan. 24, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 588,000, an increase of 3,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 585,000.

That's called LIFE! You win some, you lose some.

Some invest the tiny bit they have left from a paycheck, others buy a new TV. My brother in law and sister stayed in the mill town I escaped from. He invested every left over cent without fail. They both worked in mills all their lives. Sadly he has passed away and my sister asked me to review her finances. He has her set for life. She can travel all over the world or the US if that's her desire. On just mill-workers pay, he made them fairly wealthy. They NEVER bought a new car, always a good used car. Never bought a new house, always shopped for a bargain on an existing house.

You may choose to support the stupid and irresponsible from the cradle to the grave all you wish. DON'T ASK ME TO CONTRIBUTE.

I'm sure that you must be aware of the fact that the Democrats had total control of Congress from January 2007 until January 2011 when in the November 2010 election voters showed their displeasure with the Dems' passage of Obamacare.

IMO, this graph by a Harvard Economics Prof using EMRATIO shows a much truer picture of when and who caused of our economy to head south.

    http://gregmankiw.blogspot.com/2012/07/monitoring-so-called-recovery.html

Back on topic. A few things about Romney that I believe will make him the perfect choice for POTUS especially now:

-After going to both Harvard Business School and Harvard Law School simultaneously, he passed the Michigan bar exam, but never worked as an attorney.

-In 1984, he co-founded Bain Capital, a private equity investment firm, one of the largest such firms in the United States .

-Bain Capital started with one small office supply store in Massachusetts, turned into Staples; now over 2,000 stores employing 90,000 people.

-Bain Capital also worked to perform the same kinds of business miracles again and again, with companies like Domino's, Sealy, Brookstone, Weather Channel, Burger King, Warner Music Group, Dollarama, Home Depot Supply, and many others.

-He was an unpaid President of the Salt Lake Olympic Committee for three years.

-In 2002, he was elected Governor of the State of Massachusetts where he eliminated a 1.5 billion deficit.

-He took no salary so was the unpaid Governor of Massachusetts for four years.

-He gave his entire inheritance from his father to charity.

-Mitt Romney is one of the wealthiest self-made men in our country but has given more back to its citizens in terms of money, service and time than most men.

-I know what religion he is, that he won't desecrate the flag, bow down to foreign powers or practice fiscal irresponsibility. I believe he has the ability, skills and business acumen to turn around this financial debacle that IMO the Dems, as far back as 2003, have gotten us into.

That's true, except that when you lose, society in general ends up picking up the tab for you. There's no escaping it whether you want to admit it or not.

One of the problems with a socialistic society that needs fixing. Social Security was never intended to be a retirement plan. It was always intended as a back up.
If a person pays in the minimum to SS all their working life, then they learn to live on the minimum SS benefit in their Golden Years. If they blow all their money, they need to look to family or charity, not the government.

Entitlements ARE going to end. Either in the voting booth or in the collapse of society. They're unsustainable. And that DOES mean they cannot last.

Unfortunately, in many cases family and/or charity are either unable or unwilling to support those who are destitute and society will not stand for the elderly being put out on the street corner to die. I 'd like to think that America, for all her flaws, is still a civilized society.

How so. NO Republicans OR Independents have been saying, "Leave healthcare alone." NONE. Everyone is in agreement that reforms must be made. And the MAJORITY agree that obamacare is not the reform needed. The MAJORITY is in agreement that obamacare is the wrong way.

Only people blinded by liberal lies believe that the majority don't want to fix a bad situation.

Because mitt romney stands for all of the morals of the republicans: flip-flopping, blaming the other guy, bowing to the fecal matter of rich people and corporations, and just being an all-around dick.
