    That is what civil marriage already is...government subsidy for sexual couples. Heterosexual/homosexual....no difference. Both can stay as a just couple or both can raise a family, there is NO difference.

    No it is not for sexual couples, sex is your private business. Marriage is social institution, it regulates and license relationship between a man and a woman because of their potential to create new members of society. There is no valid reason to regulate or license gay couples or any other kind of couples.

    Right or wrong, there is no justification on why whole society should pay someone's sex (private matter). It is absolutely unconstitutional.

    ????? Only heterosexuals procreate. YOU are the one in need of a reason to limit marriage to heterosexual and homosexual couples. We already have one for limiting it to heterosexual couples.

    I havent seen it debunked yet. I have seen you people claim, about 100 times that it has been debunked in the past. You should post a link to the debunking so we have some hope of knowing what the (*)(*)(*)(*) you are going on about.

    Don't you think that is stupid to require procreation before marriage if procreation is supposed to happen while in marriage.
    It is just an completely idiotic requirement to be pregnant in order to be married.

    you guys are the ones arguing that marriage is for procreation. this argument is easily defeated by pointing out that the ability or intention to procreate is not required in order to get married.

    Then why are we subsidizing heterosexual marriage??? It can't be for the children, because many heterosexual couples do not have them, and many same sex couples do. So WHY???

    The op does make a good point.

    Historically going back centuries. Homosexuality has been tolerated behind closed doors. In the greeks case orgies. (which continue today if know where to look)

    But marriage?

    Seems a step too far.

    Any two people can adopt, or what you refer to as procreation. My dog and I can procreate using that logic. Nothing special about those who happen to be gay.

    I'm glad my parents weren't gay, they had their problems but I'm happy I never had 2 dads or 2 moms, and I'm sure most children are too.

    I didnt say they all procreate, I said they are the only couples who procreate. Yes a homosexual man and a homosexual woman who form a HETEROSEXUAL couple can procreate. No, a homosexual couple cannot procreate. At most, ONE of the couple and a 3rd person procreated.

    We are not subsidizing anything. Since relationship between a man and a woman have social meaning, benefits and other perks is one of the ways to shape and influence such relationship. The goal is to motivate man and woman to stay together for long procreate and rear children in optimal environment (i.e. with father and mother).
    It is very simple and practical, we essentially pay and invest in our future.
