I have no view to american culture. But the philosophical ramblings in regards to free speech i find delicious.

Deep subjects I love sinking my teeth into and this deep mess of free speech beliefs on a virtual forum with political motivations will proberbly never be clarified to the benefit of comprehension.

And racism! Some people do defend the use of it. They say for a equally philosophical excuses. But do they really believe that. Has speech sunk into the abyss that skin pigmintation is routinly mocked.

The moderators do not enforce political opinions and "racism" is a political opinion.

We do enforce the Forum Rules and personal insults and attacks are expressly prohibited.

Gee, go figure, we actually do allow expression of political opinion so long as it meets the criteria of the Forum Rules just like we're supposed to be doing but also enforce the Forum Rules that prohibit personal insults and attacks which we're also supposed to be doing. Amazing, isn't it?

    Nicely put.

I was waiting for a mod to chip in and you did not disappoint

    Racism is a political opinion?

Now that is a virtual sound bite i will remember. Hey btw. I know forum moderation is difficult. But ignoring racism and being manipluated by the racists. It is an interesting waste of time.

It's interesting how certain people complain about racism on the site. It really is.

    For reference to clarify.

I am going to test out this racist free speech option. If that means offending people. Then so be it. I have been preached with so much yang.

I am interested if anyone believes it. Or all this nonsense of 'free speech' is only hot air.

Now worship my anti semitism. This is your freedom.

Europeans aren't evolved enough to have the responsibility of freedom of speech. Here in America we self-regulate, mostly. We can say whatever the hell we want but the people will condemn you if you cross a line. Obviously on the internet that pressure doesn't exist so people are able to speak their minds.

On Political Forum, so long as the Forum Rules are followed, no topic or opinions are suppressed. Anyone wanting to discuss a topic in a respectful manner is welcome to express their opinions even if those opinions are inflammatory to others.

It is easy to throw stones at the US from across the pond...........especially if they have never experienced that particular freedom. I do notice that our "friends" from across the pond often practice that which they can only excercise on the internet, and not publically in their respective countries.
That being said, the US government, IMO, is closing in on our Bill of Rights seeking to subjegate those Rights which they really have no right to infringe upon.

Every time someone speaks in support of affirmative action (race-based), they are being racist against all white people, and I agree that racism should be banned. Starting with the biggest and most egregious racism that has persisted for 50 years - Affirmative Action.

In some cases personal attacks are legitimate and should be allowed. Such as when the recipient of the "attack" is an agenda-driven speaker whose words reflect his personal agenda, rather than an objective opinion. An example would be someone who speaks about illegal immigration as acceptable, when he owns a business that employs 100 illegal aliens. In this case it would be justified to say that the person owns a business that employs 100 illegal aliens. It may be a personal attack of a sort, but it's necessary for the validity of the thread, to know where that guy is coming from.:|

    This is of course false.

Affirmative Action is an attempt to mitigate existing discrimination whether it's based upon race or gender both of which have high levels of established and documented discrimination. No one's rights of equality of opportunity are being violated by Affirmative Action. This is often a false mantra of "racists" that state that Affirmative Action discriminates against "White Males" but there isn't any denial of equality of opportunity for "White Males" so their claims are false. Sadly many people are influenced by this false racist propaganda into believing it's true when, in fact, it is not.

I've seen more non-objective opinions on Political Forum than objective opinions. Of course just because someone has a personal agenda doesn't imply it's not supported based upon argument.

The solution offered by Political Forum is that we can attack the opinion regardless of what it is. This can easily be done and it is the only ligitimate rebuttal to that opinion. Personal attacks do not dispute the expressed opinion and are fundamentally worthless in discussion and debate. They actual reflect an inability of a person to offer rebuttal to the opinion which implies that the opinion is valid because it is not being addressed directly.

Always remember that Political Forum was founded upon the principle of "vigorous respectful debate" and personal insults and attacks are always disrespectful and therefore violate the Mission Statement of Political Forum. If members want to attack individuals as opposed to opinions then I highly recommend they go to Craigslist Rants and Raves. It is a much more appropriate venue for personal attacks and insults.

How do you ban emotional reactions??? You can educate 'til you are blue in the face, but emotions can't be legislated. Haters are going to hate no matter what.

Political Forum doesn't ban "emotional reactions" and a member can become as emotional as they want related to an issue. They can jump up and down, scream their bloody head off, curse and swear all they want but when that's over then they can sit down and type out a reasoned response to post on Political Forum that complies with the Forum Rules. We don't care about what a member's emotional response is. We only care about whether the posts they make on Political Forum comply with the Forum Rules.

Of note I've had several members comment to me that they'll read a post and get so PO'd that they have to walk away from the computer, gather their composure, and then return to address the post. Absolutely nothing wrong with that and it is highly recommended for those that might tend to lose their temper sometimes.

In Canada it came under review when a white woman applied on line for a government job. When it was established that she was not a visible minority, she was told she could proceed no further.

I believe the intent was good and actually needed, however, I think a historically racial based initiative is in need of a comprehensive overhaul.

Admittedly I'm not up to speed on what happens in Canada but in the United States it's been clearly establish that a woman or a member of a minority group is less likely to be hired or promoted and based upon statistics they will earn less than a white male.

What is ultimately needed is to end the invidious discrimination that is the foundation for the problem but that is going to take generations to accomplish.

In the meantime I also believe that a comprehensive overall to mitigate the effects of individious racial and gender discrimination can and should always be on the table. It isn't the elimination of Affirmative Action but instead improving Affirmative Action so that it reduces the effects of invidious discrimination that should always be the goal.

I get that all views are permitted - but surely in a forum like Latest World News, permitting old blogs that claim the zionist conspiracy and have nothing to do with news and do not meet the requirements (such as the recent thread that Jews admit everything) reflects racism is tolerated as news on this forum. This aforementioned thread remained on Latest World News until it reached 500 posts. This fact correctly reflects PF as a site that does not simply tolerate all views but considers racism to be news. This is akin to sites like Stormfront. Why bother with the zionist conspiracy subforum when it is quite simply latest world news here and what does this say about PF?

My gut feeling is that any sort of initiative that a government takes regarding trying to right wrongs with sweeping generalized programmes, should go more to the source to produce actual results for the societal gains they are looking to achieve.

Make it for the impoverished families, with that being the only criteria, and, get them much younger in the educational process (ie, spending the money wisely to produce a positive societal effect)

Overhaul the existent criteria that currently favours already financially capable minorities from reaping the results of higher education, when it is desperately needed at an earlier level (and demographic) of society.

Governments tend to be the aggressive initiators for minority hirings, simply because they can heavily regulate their own bureaucratic processes. Not always a positive when governments have to drastically cut back (which is probably why the African American community is double the national average of unemployment currently)

You have to define what is homophobia and what are the symptoms of homophobia before making suggestions.
Since you have used medical term phobia you have to present your medical diploma, what is a description of the disease and methods of diagnostics.

Special rights for one group is violation of human rights of another group. AA is a discrimination against European-Americans and all men.

Like everything else liberals come up with to 'make things equal' or to 'be fair', they screw it up. Affirmative action is racist. And even more so today. The one good thing this board does have going for it most of the time is it stays out of the fray. Leave the members alone, they're adults. for the most part.

I don't know what thread is being referred to so I can only make a general comment. It is the member's responsibility to post a new thread in the correct forum, not the moderators. We often have threads posted in the wrong forums and, if we're notified of it by someone submitting a Report then we evaluate it on a case by case basis. If we have clear evidence that it's in the wrong forum then we move it.

The only problem with this process is that, for pragmatic reasons, not all Reports are addressed by the moderators. Sometimes there are just too many Reports for that or our time is consumed dealing with members whining about receiving warnings or infractions when they've violated the Forum Rules. We wish we could address ALL Reports but that is never likely to happen.

In any case the political issues being addressed are not a concern of the moderators, ever. Only compliance with the Forum Rules is addressed by the moderators.

    Respectfully,

    This is the thread. http://www.politicalforum.com/latest-world-news/256411-jews-point-where-they-admit-everything.html

I know it was reported by various posters a number of times. A number of posts were deleted therein and it was shut down after 500 posts, so it was clearly known to the mods. Now if a thread that is a blog with the topic it is, is treated as latest world news, what does that say about the forum? BTW this same blog is at Stormfront which should tell you all you need to know. If this is tolerated in Latest World News by never been removed to its appropriate forum, then it truly says a lot about this forum.

I understand that you are swamped and that things may be overlooked in the bustle, but the truth is Shiva, it seems to me to be a cop-out to say that political issues are not of concern as a response to the fact that threads like these are being posted in the wrong forum and clearly relate to zionist conspiracy and have nothing to do with news and are reported over and over again. Clearly members should police themselves but they do not and hence you have the pleasure of the work you do :). Funny thing is how many threads have ever been removed to zionist conspiracy, despite the constant topic of jews and zionism on the Latest World News forum? That says a lot too. May as well shut down the sub-forum zionist conspiracy... It has been elevated to Latest World News and is apparently real, at least on PF. BTW the same appiles to the muslim threads in the Latest World News forum. At the very least they belong to the Middle East Forum.

Homophobia is a coined term, not a medical one. It is used to describe people who through ignorance, or just plain ill will do the following:

    1. Block equal rights for homosexuals
    2. Spread lies about homosexual people
    3. Use bullying and violence against homosexual people
    4. Exclude homosexuals from public places
    5. Denigrate families lead by homosexuals
    6. Push young homosexuals to suicide

These are just a few actions by these people. If you have a better name for them...Unrepentent Haters, comes to mind, but is a bit unwieldy...please suggest away.

So you want to use medical word phobia in order to declare any person who disagrees with you as mentally impaired?
That is nice, smart gay agenda?
